Sounds like the left has turned the conrner on dismantling the NRA-and to me it sounds like from the inside-all of you “loyal members for years etc” are swallowing everything you hear, most of it out of context. If the NRA loses momentum, it will be because of a good PR attack on it focused towards its membership.
If LaPeierre and Cox are sell-outs, then the board must do the right thing and push them aside.
I agree-the article giving Reid a bye was a travesty, DISCLOSE is pure unadulterated unconstitutional fodder, and if this full endorsement of Reid is in fact to be, then we, the constituent membership of the NRA, MUST change it, not leave it! That is what the left wants, even if they are not actively doing it...
Steadfast, stalwarts, dig in for the long haul.
All said, I really do wonder how many of you who declare yor intent to flee, actually are/were dues paying voting memebrs? Probably a small percentage.
Best;
We quit giving money to the NRA for the same reason we stopped sending money to the Republican Party.
We didn’t change. They did. They know what it takes to get us back. I’m not going to send money that I can’t afford to send to any organization that is selling out the principles that people who love this country and her Founding Documents hold dear.
I’ll go back to supporting them when they go back to being what made me support them in the first place.
Guess you're not aware that Neal Knox tried exactly that in the late 90's. The "powers that be" pushed Neal and his followers out of the organization.
I can only speak for myself - I joined the NRA in 1995, right about the time they started battling the Clinton machine. I resigned in 2004 after they endorsed Arlen Specter (who signed the '93 Clinton "assault weapon" gun ban) over Pat Toomey (100% pro-gun record) in the PA Senate race. I have supported GOA ever since.
I never said I was a current member - I just encouraged current members to reevaluate their position if this goes through.
Hope that helps -
