and everybody agrees that it’s subject to regulation

That statement is why anybody who would ever trust a demoRAT is a fool. The rats will still chip away at our rights one step at a time. Cf kalifornia.

BS. The dems will try to find a way around this to prevent normal people from defending their life and property using deadly force if necessary.

You are so right. That complete phrase ““It removes guns as a political issue because everyone now agrees that the Second Amendment is an individual right and everybody agrees that it’s subject to regulation,”” is complete fancy.

Like Reagan said — (or supposedly said) ‘trust everyone, but cut the deck’ and ‘ watch what they DO, not what they SAY’

Until, and *IF* the DemocRATS really let this issue go, it’ll still be an issue.

More and more, Politico is starting to look like one of the MSM Obama-bootlickers. This imbecile’s logic is that now that 1 of the rightwingers issue is out of the way...we won!!

Absolute idiocy but thanks for the LOL in the morning.

Hopefully 2A advocates will recognize that SCOTUS is one vote shy of another decision that could effectively overturn both Heller and McDonald, if they vote for Senators who will rubberstamp another Sotomayer or Kagan nominee.

As Top O'Neil said: "All politics is local".

The Supreme Court struck a blow against state and local infringement of gun rights -- but the concept of "reasonable regulation" has not been resolved. Here in MA, the news is filled with reports that the Governor is looking at this ruling and deciding what to do on the state level (we're currently quite restricted and the Democrats obviously want to find a way to keep it that way).

Gun Control is now a very hot topic on the local level. And all politics is local. This is not good news for Dems.

What a bunch of morons. I guess it would be an inconvenient truth to point out that a recently DEMOCRAT appointed affirmative action dope, Sotomayor, was one of the four dissenters.

Now, Democratic candidates across the map figure they have one less issue to worry about on the campaign trail.

Snort.

A two word note to the 'Rats: Elena Kagan.

I’m surprised I even read the article. It’s from Politico.

But it is about the court ruling, and gun rights, so I did.

Typical Leftist Politico.

A building block is NOT the whole building, Harry. If you think the gun issue is the only thing that will cost you the election, you are older and more senile than we imagined.

Any other ruling by the court would have probably meant a major upheaveal in this country, and immediate.

The dems need to quit the charade of "born'd and raised in da briar patch" and look realistically at why the tide is against them...it's not only the guns.

Purring and winking won't get you any points with mainstream America...they know, and you know, what you've done.

This is like saying that the loss of Vicksburg was a victory for the Confederacy because they no longer had to defend the Mississippi. The liberals win by making their ultimate victory look inevitable. Convincing people that greater achievement is impossible so they should just loot as much for themselves as they can get. The mere fact that they were defeated, not merely stopped, but thrown back shows that the assumption of the eventual cultural victory of the left is a farce. They can be fought. We can not only slow them down, but we can take back our country. There is no way that the Dem’s can spin that as a victory.

Two points:

1. Four Democrat Justices think that citizens may be fully disarmed by their state governments.

2. The game is one for a massive generation of gun rights litigation, with rulings to be made by the federal judge and SCOTUS appointees of future Presidents, confirmed by future congresses.

Gun owners aren’t that easily lulled into ignorance. Democrats are out to destroy the Constitution/Republic, and the 2nd Amendment is a priority. With unemployment at 10 percent and rising, with housing tanking, gas prices rising and Socialism failing everywhere, Democrats have a full plate of crap to eat come November. We should shovel it on, not forgetting who the gun grabbers are as we go.

“It removes guns as a political issue because everyone now agrees that the Second Amendment is an individual right and everybody agrees that it’s subject to regulation,”

Nonsense. It just changes the debate to how much and what kind of regulation is "reasonable". The battles will be just as intense and the usual suspects will be lining up on each side.

...because everyone now agrees that the Second Amendment is an individual right ...

Except for 4 of 9 SCOTUS justices who happen to be left wing.

I thought that this was going to be an article that admits

Yet another article from the DEM spin machine that a DEM defeat is good for the DEMs.

Secondly, I’ve never heard a democrat “quietly cheer” about anything.

As you might expect, the so-called “centrist” group “Third way” that Politico cites is actually a Dem Party front group, dedicated to “modernizing progressivism”, and with 6 Dem Senators on its advisory board.
