Over the weekend, Dave Weigel resigned as WaPo's house chronicler of conservatives after revelations of his antipathy toward the people he was covering. Tonight brings us the spectacle of Ross Douthat, an ostensibly conservative columnist at the New York Times. Appearing on MSNBC's Ed Schultz show, Douthat proffered precisely zero criticism of anyone or anything liberal. But he did manage to mock Mike Huckabee as "passive-aggressive." For good measure, Douthat suggested that "right-wing" people who question Barack Obama's place of birth are too dense to realize that Hawaii is a state of the union.
The Nation's Chris Hayes subbed for Schultz tonight, and he didn't have to strain to elicit criticism of conservatives from Douthat. After playing a clip of Huckabee stating the apparent fact that he polls better than other Republicans against Obama, Douhat opined.

The New York Times/MSNBC’s idea of a “conservative” columnist. Ping to Today show list.
I wonder what color the sky is in Douthat’s world . . .
But Kenya isn’t a state.
Really?? Obama stated there are 57 states in America...surely Hawaii is one them.
Hawaii is our 57th state, silly.
Maybe. But we understand it won’t tip over.
Sources, Foghat.
I'd like to see FOX offer Gergen as a liberal pundit, or Brooks when he becomes available.
CNN has decided that Kathleen Parker, who supported Obama for President, is to be the “conservative” opposite Client #9
I see the POLL question is based on BORN IN THE U.S.
Which is not the issue that the public is addressing.
The issue was that he was not a Natural Born Citizen.
We know Hawai'i is a state, but we don't know for sure where BO was born.
Ask this asshat what the other 7 states are since BO said there were 57 and there are only 50 stars on the flag so the flag must be wrong. /s
Mr. Douthat sounds like an A$$Hat to me!
Hawaii ain’t no state , it is an island that could capsize if the Japanese don’t quit moving there . Well it didn’t use to be a state anyway. Not like the other 57 that always were states. Who is retarded now Douchehat ?
HAYES: Also disturbing!
DOUTHAT: Also disturbing. But I also wonder, if you took that 21% [sic] and polled them and said what percentage know that being born outside the US --
HAYES: Disqualifies --
DOUTHAT: Is a disqualification for the presidency. Or if you polled them and said, what percentage know that Hawaii is actually a state? That sounds like a joke, but-- that sounds like a joke --

BO's father, BO Sr. (if that really was his father) was not a citizen of the U.S. when BO was born, so that means BO is not a natural born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible for the Presidency.
