Labor ministers reporting to the G20 heads of state in Toronto will document a truly scary rise in unemployment worldwidea mind-boggling record high of 212 million.
In its annual Global Employment Trends report, the International Labour Organization (ILO) estimated that 34 million people joined the ranks of the unemployed in 2008 and 2009. It would have been closer to 55 million if the largest economies hadnt taken steps to offset the global collapse in financial markets with government stimulus, according to Ron Blackwell, chief economist of the AFL-CIO.
Here in America, 15 million unemployed is the official number, but each week scores of jobless drop off the unemployment rolls because their benefits run out and they are no longer counted. The actual number, far higher than what the weekly stats tell us, is on the way to becoming a permanent feature of the new economy. I am surprised a blatant error like this got into an article at a major publication. I though such ignorance was confined to chat boards.
How is he stymied by the GOP? The GOP has no votes to stop them from doing anything.
Cut taxes right to the bone, you idiots...simple as that.
Newsweak fired their fact checkers years ago and became a straight leftwing opinion magazine.
These fools do not give a rats’ rear about PRIVATE SECTOR jobs. They are very anti-private-sector. Of course - they are socialists. Radical socialists.
Obama just lies about “jobs” (meaning private sector jobs) and his BS about “saving jobs” is the most insulting concept of all of it.
These lying socialists are just that. They never have, and never will, support the private sector capitalist economy.
Maybe they should take a lesson from Congressman Jim Moran, who created a whole recovery instantly, and out of thin air.
Isn't that like appointing an inmate as chief psychiatrist of the asylum?
If Dear Leader (God forbid) is reelected, he’ll be blaming President Bush and the GOP for his troubles all the way to January 2017.
Maybe they should take a lesson from Congressman Jim Moran, who created a whole recovery instantly, and out of thin air.
Let’s look up all the articles Clift wrote about when poor Bush was ‘stymied’ by the democraps when he was trying to run things
Hey Clift- you DO know that DEMOCRAPS CONTROL EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW DONT YOU???????
Nailed it.
The jobs situation is the fault of the GOP???
BULLSH*T!
Stroker and his mob can do whatever the hell they want...as evidenced by the trashing of our constitution and way of life for the past 18 months.
The GOP hasn’t the power (or the balls) to do ANYTHING!
"You're a joker. You're an asshole."
That pretty much covers it.
“Stymied” by the GOP? lulz!
She has no clue to what “stymied” really implies; wait till after November....=.=
