G-20: Obama Gives Press the Slip
WSJ ^ | June 26, 2010 | Elizabeth Williamson

Posted on 06/27/2010 8:02:39 AM PDT by kagoots

Holed up with seven other global leaders in the woods of Muskoka, Canada, President Barack Obama gave the White House press corps the slip last night. The president is attending the G-8 and G-20 summits with his global counterparts this weekend. The G-8 began yesterday in Muskoka in Huntsville, Ont., and ends today. The G-20 is in Toronto, about 150 miles away, and starts this afternoon. Last night, the White House sent the press corps — which by agreement stays close to the president in order to report on any incident — back to Toronto, leaving the president 150 miles behind. In the wee hours of this morning, the crew of a dozen or so reporters and photographers in the press corps got back on a bus and returned to Muskoka for the day’s events. It is highly unusual for the president to shun his permanent media detail that way, particularly at a high-profile event in a remote location. One White House aide speculated that it was due to scarce accommodations in Muskoka — which is a resort area. But Mr. Obama, who’s been quite vocal in his disdain for the press at times, has blown off his press corps in the past. The White House Correspondents’ Association complained to press secretary Robert Gibbs recently when the president left the White House on a Saturday, avoided the waiting press corps, and attended his daughter’s soccer game in Northwest D.C. This is a far more significant offense than that one, and is likely to draw another complaint.

Total disregard for duty. A President is not supposed to slip out and disappear as he did that Saturday...nor send the press corps away and give them the slip. His time is our time. Even on vacation. Sorry, but that constant availability and known whereabouts comes with the job.

If Obama needs so much time to hide somewhere, on a regular basis as he seems to do, he should not have accepted the nomination. What can he be doing, anyway?

I don't care if he gives the slip to reporters, press corps, or liberal lap dogs. None of it is appropriate. He wanted the spotlight, he craved the spotlight, and now he hides from the spotlight because the spotlight is showing his flaws. Who knows where he goes...and that is the ultimate crime. Other than in times of invasion and when he has to be placed somewhere for his protection...we should know where our President is at all times. For goodness sake, what a irresponsible, selfish act of his. What an incomprehensible ignoramus he is.

Watching the US soccer game yesterday, I noticed Katie Couric with a goofy grin on her face sitting next to Bill Clinton. That moment, to me, epitomized exactly what is wrong with our country today. True “journalists” should not cozy up with political figures, regardless of their party. But there was perky, high-fiving the husband of our Dem Secretary of State.

It was pretty much confirmed that there WAS NOT a soccer game, and that the supposed field for the “game” was at some run-down pitch in a tough part of DC.

Our media is corrupt to the core.

But not Øbozo. Because he is so narcissistic and so thin-skinned his piss-off with the press has become blatant.

The main reason is his skin color

The die was cast in the early 60s when urban riots were allowed to go on with no repercussions

Since then blacks hold the upper hand and the liberal establishment including the MSM is owned

It is not discretionary....it is by agreement....it is not personal he is not just a “dad”....he carries the “football” and that thought should wake you up.....

I think it would take a lot more than just being kicked in the teeth to turn off the press...I honestly don’t know what would be required to break their pathetic attachment to Bambi.

I think he’s pretty safe and he knows it. He can afford to kick them in the teeth or anyplace else, just to show them he’s boss, and they’ll still come crawling back for more. And they will be out there supporting him 100% if he goes for reelection, believe me.

No president should be at the mercy of the press 24/7.

No free citizen should be subjected to the President's every move and political utterance 24/7.

He will not make that mistake, and isn’t charmed by women.

He just simply doesn’t like the press and only uses them as tools in his agenda.

If the Republicans win back Congress in November, they should spend the next 2 years dragging the MSM before Congress for hearings and investigations.

Agreed. Its not a thing of limiting freedom of speech, I want to know what collusion is going on behind the scenes with the Democrats.

Never happen though. My bet is too many spineless RINO's are going to retain their seats; just enough to bog down real reform..

There’s a few things we know for certain. He’s not evaluating the damage in Nashville. He’s not serving lunch to soldiers in Afghanistan. He’s not viewing cleanup procedures in the Gulf.
