Garofalo: Bible a 'Work of Fiction' for 'Child-Like Audience' By Nathan Burchfiel Created 06/25/2010 - 08:43

Sometime-comedian Janeane Garofalo never passes up an opportunity to slam conservatives or, apparently, Christianity. The Huffington Post gave her an opportunity June 24 to kill two birds with one stone.

In an interview [1] promoting her upcoming special on a network called EPIX, Garofalo compared the most widely-read book of all time, the Bible, to a Bill O'Reilly autobiography and a children's book authored by former President Bush.

When asked by a Huffington Post reader which of those three publications she'd rather read, Garofalo said, "Actually that's like six and one half, that is six and one half right there." Presumably, she meant to use the popular idiom, "six of one, half a dozen of the other."

"That's just three works of fiction targeted to a child-like audience so any, all, any one, none," Garofalo said. "I don't know how to read either, so that's kind of a drag."

During the interview, Garofalo also expressed disappointment in President Obama. "It's a drag that he's such a conservative," she lamented.

Garofalo's made her disdain for religion clear in the past. During a June 16 appearance on "The Joy Behar Show" on Headline News, she called prayer "anti-intellectual." Behar later defended Garofalo on ABC's "The View," saying the comedian should have said prayer was "un-intellectual."

Garofalo has also built a long resume of attacking conservatives. She has compared the GOP to neo-Nazis [1] and called Tea Party protestors "functionally retarded [1]," and "racist backward motherf***ers [1]." She has called the stable of Fox News anchors and hosts, as well as conservative talk radio hosts, liars [1].

Her shirt is a cry for help.

It refers to the song “They're Coming to Take me Away” By Napoleon XVI. Considering her displays of lack of common knowledge i.e. the “the six of one/half a dozen of another” gaffe, I'd say she had the shirt custom made and attributed the wrong name for the author of the song.
Very Garafaloesque!

“A candidate for Bellevue.

I'd rather see her married to a muslim and flown to Saudi Arabia. People in Bellevue can still be interviewed”

Just punishment for her Stockholm syndrome statement!

Everytime she appeared on 24, I would yell out “skank!” My family not knowing why thought I had gone crazy.

LOL.

Coming from a scholarly, warm person like herself, maybe she's touching on a truth?.... /sarc

When asked by a Huffington Post reader which of those three publications she'd rather read, Garofalo said, "Actually that's like six and one half, that is six and one half right there." Presumably, she meant to use the popular idiom, "six of one, half a dozen of the other."

Or as my mother would have said - too clever by half!! Haha. Janeane's such a wise mentor to us all. Just Exhibit A of many regarding her expertise on things.

"That's just three works of fiction targeted to a child-like audience so any, all, any one, none," Garofalo said. "I don't know how to read either, so that's kind of a drag."

Priceless. Who's the real 'child-like' audience member here?

My daughter has read the Bible sense she was like 5 or 6 years old and was able to understand it to my amazement.

At the same time our adult studies would often have to reference great bible scholars to gain understanding.

I thank the Lord for that!

“Liberals would be loading Christians into cattle cars today if they had the power.”

I hope that’s not an accurate prediction for 2015 if we lose in 2010 and 2012!

They killed 100 million people that disagreed with them last century. I’m sure the Marxists and the majority of the czars in Brain Washington consider this merely “a good start”

About two seconds after she dies she’s in for a surprise as demons begin to drag her butt to hell.

As is obvious in this picture, her soul is dying. Of course she hates the Bible as it is the light.

The King James english alone is worth the read. I would easily take the Bible of the three books mentioned. Proverbs makes for good reading.

You're right. Helen Thomas doesn't try to look unattractive. If Garofalo is going for the bull-dyke, repulsive-to-males look, she pulled it off.
