Does anyone know if Old Saybrook is okay?
Had seen on that thread hugh lightning strikes in Chicago, 2007. I am wondering if that is what happened before things got real bad in Bridgeport. CT is my home state.
Say, I wonder if there is a Connecticut PING List, and if so, who has it?
I hope all the freepers on your Connecticut PING List are safe & sound, it sounds absolutely dreadful in Bridgeport.
The storm blew through here around 3:30. Massive rain, wind, thunder and lightning.
Lasted about 20-25 minutes.
I live in nearby Milford.
A tree across the street was struck by lightening.
Glad to hear you’re safe & sound, it sounds like absolutely vile weather; please be careful, and remain alert for possible flash floods.
Anybody know how the building collapsed? I don’t hear talk of a tornado, were there strong straight line winds?
That shite-hole of a town should be under a State of Emergency 24/7.
Thanks hennie pennie.
Breaking news as of right now from the National Weather Service: It WAS officially a tornado that ripped through Bridgeport - and parts of Easton and Stratford - yesterday.
I heard there were some minor injuries due to this storm, but no fatalities. Supposedly parts of Bridgeport looks like a war zone (I've actually never set foot in Bridgeport, CT). Pretty rare to see a tornado in these parts...
I work in an office tower in Shelton - we could see that someone was getting hammered along the coast - Bridgeport is bad Ju-Ju.
Before or after the tornado? ;^)
Pretty rare to see a tornado in these parts...
Really? There seems to be about one a year in Fairfield County. If not a tornado, nearly close wind speeds that knock down a lot of trees.
That sounds absolutely MIRACULOUS, no fatalities, particularly from that collapsed building. I’ll be interested to learn what F-number the tornado was; however, straight line winds, i.e., non-tornadic, can wreak havoc, too.
And then a tornado hit!
LOL, too funny.
I was in my car when it hit here and it was like being in an out of control car wash.
p.s. Your typing skills seem to be in mid-season form! :)
Wow, it hit the Boston area too? At 3pm yesterday, we were at my orthopedic doc's office in Hartford, getting that heavy cast off my arm (yippee!). We never felt nor saw a storm at all... weird.
I have a soft removable "sleeve" cast on now, and am learning to type with it on (using two hands as usual), or I can take it off if I have to do a lot of typing. Still pretty painful, though, depending on how I move the arm/wrist.
Not sure if you're a big Red Sox fan, but did you see last night's game vs the Colorado Rockies? WOW! Pedroia the Destroyah!
