Issa pushes for drilling ban docs

A leading House Republican is pressuring Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to release documents related to the Obama administration’s a six-month deepwater drilling moratorium.

Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, claims that the administration is “pursuing policies inconsistent with its commitment to protect the Gulf region” by insisting on the drilling moratorium.

Issa writes in the letter, obtained by POLITICO, that he is concerned about the administration’s decision to appeal a Louisiana court ruling that lifted the moratorium – the Californian claims that experts advised against the ban. Issa is seeking documents looking to appeal the court case and a PowerPoint presentation that allegedly expressed that the ban would result in an increase in risk once the ban is lifted.

“Despite the court’s decision and the advice of experts, it appears that you are engaging in a new effort to reinstate the moratorium that still may not have scientific backing,” he writes.

Issa is also taking aim at the Interior Department’s decision to alter dredging operations, also asking for documents related to that issue.

This is only the latest in a drumbeat of requests for documents probing the spill from lawmakers. The House and Senate have held upwards of 20 hearings on the disaster with both industry and government officials.

Ed Towns, the New York Democrat who chairs Issa’s committee, has also asked for documents from the Interior department.

ANSWER The buzz is Joe Biden was tapped as the point man----and told BP---"you give us $20B or we'll take it from you." He is the person to watch like a hawk when there's $20B floating around. Keep in mind Obama put Biden in charge of the $2 trillion stimulus pkg and that millions in stimulus is being hidden in the states for endangered Dems (then wire-transferred offshore?)

Offshore fraudster had links to fund run by relatives of Biden

EXCERPT --- A fund of hedge funds run by two members of VP Joe Biden's family was marketed exclusively by firms controlled by Texas financier Allen Stanford, charged by regulators with an $8 billion fraud, the Wall Street Journal said.

The $50 million fund was jointly branded between the Bidens' Paradigm Global Advisors LLC and a Stanford Financial Group entity, and was known as the Paradigm Stanford Capital Management Core Alternative Fund, the paper said.

Stanford-related companies marketed the fund to investors and also invested about $2.7 million of their own money in the fund, the paper said, citing a lawyer for Paradigm.

Paradigm Global Advisors is owned through a holding company by the vice president's son, Hunter, and Joe Biden's brother, James, according to the paper. Paradigm's attorney, Marc LoPresti, who represents Hunter Biden and James Biden, as well as Paradigm, told the paper he did not know which Stanford entity invested the roughly $2.7 million and that the Bidens "never met or communicated" with Stanford.

What caused the drilling rig to ‘swamp’ in the first place??

They are designed to withstand cat 5 hurricanes.

Were ANY experts in oil rig fires/blowouts/busted pipelines/oil field fires such as Red Adair’s company ever consulted before the Coast Guard swung into action?

Was there ANY oil leak BEFORE the drilling rig ‘swamped’ & sank?

Did the efforts of the Coast Guard cause the massive amounts of water hosed onto the rig cause the rig to become over-weighted— off balance— & then it swamped & sank?

Was there ANY oil leaking in the 2 days that the fire on the rig was being fought with continouw water?

Did the actual leak start AFTER the rig swamped & the riser pipe—over 5000 feet of riser pipe—get bent & buckled & broken???

Did the COAST GUARD actually cause the oil leak?

Can anyone fill in parts of this timeline?
