Google "Disappears" Moveon Hate-Petraeus Page cache (GONE This Morning!)
Google ^ | June 24, 2010 | Google's harried web programmers

Posted on 06/24/2010 8:29:26 AM PDT by an amused spectator

Freeper GreenAccord gave me the heads-up this morning that the Google web cache of the Moveon Hate-Petraeus page has itself gone missing.

One could say that it's just Google's busy little web cache automated spiders doing their job all unattended like and that they finally got around to scraping the Moveon website caches and updating their information.

EXCEPT for the fact that a Google web cache of ANOTHER Moveon page that was taken at nearly the same time as the Moveon Hate Petraeus page is STILL THERE, and hasn't been updated.

So, there were phone calls, email messages, etc. and some web programmers had to put in some extra hours taking care of the Toxic Little Moveon Petraeus Web Page Embarrassment.

Hopefully, the web programmers were hourly guys and not salary, so I can claim that I did my bit to generate some more work for the economy.

Well, at the very least Google doesn’t do a very good job of “not being evil”...

How you guys can sleep at night knowing that you're "disappearing" information for a crowd of Fascists & Socialists is beyond me.

The Google boys are part of a long totalitarian tradition - remember how the USSR would air brush "leaders" out of existence?

Hitler's SS would be impressed...

Orwell called it.

Long ugly traditions...

I doubt that there's anything sinister or unusual about this. Google has procedures and tools to allow web site owners to remove the contents of their sites from Google's cache. When Moveon.org first stuffed the "Betray Us" page down the memory hole, they forget about Google's cache. Eventually they realized that they needed to remove it from there as well, and did so.

Just Google “General Betray Us” and you get plenty of good hits.

It’s all a conspiracy

Conspiracies are for loons. Every sane person knows that men never lie, manipulate information or attempt to cover anything up in their pursuit of power. Such things have never happened in human history, nor will they ever happen.

Also, if you go to the David Petraeus article on Wikipedia, there is a link to “Moveon.org ad controversy” and the second reference under the latter goes to the cached page (including a photo of the original ad).

“1984” was just a few years too early. “We have always been at war with Eurasia”

"War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."

Like a bad dream, somebody wake me up !

I just google searched using the keywords General Betrayus Moveon

The moveon link came up and I clicked on it.
I then came to a page where I was asked to register.
And that is where I ended my little adventure.

maybe I should put Sergey Brin’s new home in Bel-Air on the Starline Tour circuit?? or maybe Scumbag Tours?? as well as Will Ferrell’s house that he bought from Ellen Degeneres. Live by the photo op, die by the photo op.

This quote from 1984 is the one that chills me to the bone:

"Comrade Ogilvy, who had never existed in the present, now existed in the past, and when once the act of forgery was forgotten, he would exist just as authentically, and upon the same evidence, as Charlemagne or Julius Caesar."
1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four)
Part 1, Chapter 4.

Once I read that I never could read ANY history book without a healthy dose of skepticism towards every fact and figure presented!

re: Seriously, do people actually imagine that Google sits there like good little drones and goes and sweeps up for liberals?)))

Absolutely. This comes from Center for American Progress, Media Matters, etc. which aresupported by the Five Progressive Billionaires.

They stand to make trillions of dollars from Cap and Tax, alone. What's a few crummy hundreds of thousands of dollars to control the propoganda?

I don't see why people insist that this assertion is paranoia. It's GOOD BUSINESS--not just ideology.

I've already shown that Google DID NOT crawl the site again.

After a couple of odd errors from Yahoo, they do still have the page cached.
