I keep getting Political flyers in the mail, robo-phone calls, along with hearing and seeing advertisements by the McCain campaign about what a spendthrift JD Hayworth was as a Congressional Representative. I am sure that JD does not have a war chest like McCains Millions so, I just want to mention some things about the Legislative Process that is intentionally overlooked in the advertisements.
In order for the legislators to vote on anything, the Legislation is put together as a Bill in the House or Senate. When I say Put Together I am talking in part about the grouping of different and often unrelated proposals, sometimes called Line Items.
After the Bill is formed, the individual items are not voted on separately (the way they should be so there would be accountability for each line item). Thus you often have a Bill that has one or two Good things about it and numerous other things that are not good, so one has to balance voting for the Good and therefore voting for all the garbage with it, or vote against the garbage and therefore vote against the Good.
If you vote for something Good you will always be portrayed by your opponents as having voted for the garbage, and if you vote against the garbage you will be portrayed as having voted against the Good.
I do not know the details of JDs Voting Record but I do know a little about McCains crossovers, flip-flops and trying to ram some Socialist (Progressive) garbage down our throats:
McCain-Feingold the so called Campaign Finance Reform that McCain admitted he didnt know parts of it that actually limit individuals and businesses but not unions and news organizations.
McCain-Kennedy the so called Immigration Reform that we here in Arizona saw as amnesty and rejected it with an online and telephone blitz that killed it.
McCain and whatever liberal that will put his name next to McCains and write the bill totally in favor of the far left agenda. I wrote to McCain during the last Presidential Primary (using more explicit language) and told him that he went way too far in placating the left wing.
Yes, I would like to see a comparison, of JDs and McCains voting record with all the line items listed. JD may have made some mistakes in some things but I think he has the will and ability to work for what is right. The only time I see McCain even looking like a conservative is when he is trying to make, us think, he really believes in Conservative values; instead of the Progressive (liberal) policies his actions show that he really supports. You can take it to the bank; I will vote for JD Hayworth for US Senate from Arizona.

J.D. does not have to be perfect to be better than McCain.
Thank you, good post bump
LOL< me too.
Given that McCain has spent the last ten years running for president, with more time in Iowa & N.H. than Arizona, I thought it would be interesting to see just how often the maverick bothers to show up for Senate votes.
Well, guess what, as bad as Obama was, McCain was even worse.
[snip]Sen. John McCain (AZ) the only current Republican presidential candidate who is a sitting U.S. senator has missed more votes than any other senator since Congress convened in January, with the exception of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), who spent months recuperating from a brain hemorrhage. According to washingtonpost.coms U.S. Congress Votes Database, Obama has missed 74 out of 93 roll-call votes (79.6%) since the end of the August congressional recess.
McCain has missed 63 out of 93 roll-call votes (67.8%) since the end of the August congressional recess. But for the entire year, McCain has missed 79 more votes than Obama; since January, McCain has missed 212 out of 403 (52.6%) roll-call votes in the 110th Congress, while Obama has missed 133 out of 403 (33.0%) roll-call votes.

June 29, 2008 Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) became the most absent member of the Senate. According to the Washington Posts votes database, McCain has missed 367 votes (61.4%) during the current Congress. In fact, CQ reports today that McCain hasnt voted in the Senate since April 8.
On the other hand, J.D. Hayworth missed only 1% of his votes in congress.(see charts)

Thanks for all the hard work you are doing to keep us informed. I frankly want McCain to miss every vote for the rest of his life.
