Back in the Disco Daze, I worked for a company that made disco equipment, like neon dance floors, lighting, sound systems, etc.. We took a floor to a convention in NYC. Some mafia guys came up to my boss and said, “We want youse to sell us dis floor, and put it in our club in Provincetown.” They paid with a briefcase full of money. No receipts, nothin’. We went to install it, and it was a freakin’ gay disco! What a zoo! And that had to be nearly 40 years ago. Mafia/gay disco????

And that had to be nearly 40 years ago. Mafia/gay disco???? Yep, and that was supposedly what lead to "the Stonewall riots". The speakeasy bar that was not legally operating got busted by the cops.

My family used to vacation on the Cape in the 60’s-70’s. P-town has been a summer homo haven as far back as I can remember.

As Atlas Stalled knows very well (he has posted many articles on the subject) La Cosa Nostra owned most of the gay bars in the northeast until the late 1970s.
