(CNN) Parts of a 2007 infomercial that features Arizona Senate hopeful J.D. Hayworth are hitting Arizona airwaves today but this time as part of a McCain campaign ad that slams Hayworth over his involvement with a company called National Grants Conferences.
Hayworth, a radio host and former congressman, recorded the infomercial in 2007. The ad promised free information about "hundreds of billions of dollars in government funding" to individuals who attend a conference on the topic.

Mark Sanders, J. D. Hayworths spokesman, tells National Review Online that Hayworth has no reason to regret the ad he made for the National Grants Conference.
(snip)
The way this started was through his former colleague in the House, J. C. Watts. He had done an infomercial for them and said J. D. should, too. So, based on his friends recommendation, he did the ad, Sanders says. Nothing ever came of it until last week, when John McCains people started a whisper campaign. What the McCain team has not told is that McCain himself took a $9,400 contribution from Michael Milin, the head of the National Grants Conference, in 2008. Sanders adds that Hayworth does not remember how much he made for the ad and that he has no opinion on its content.
FUJM!
Odd how McCain is fighting J.D. harder than he ever fought Zero!
Wait, I forgot.
McCain only fights conservatives!
FUJM!
I really, truly hope McCain loses. He could have gone into an honorable retirement, but instead he’s a RINO dog in the manger who hates anybody with any new ideas and energy.
McCain is such a sleazeball.
How much you want to bet that McCain will do a Viagra ad after he’s retired?
LOL!!!
Good call Hayworth! It’s great when a candidate shows the guts to say “Yep, I did that and so what”. There is absolutely nothing wrong in what he did. Grants need to be publicized. If people like them, apply. If they are such a bad thing, then why didn’t Senator McLame expose “evil grants” years ago? Maybe, just like in the Keating Five, he didn’t need their money at the time.
Huckster? Really? Hey McLame! Where were you during the presidential election? You rolled over on it! You gave us 0bama on a silver platter. Why don’t you just go away?
VEEEEERY INTERESTING!!!!
John McCain - the Democrat's choice for Republican Office holder - or Presidental Loser Candidate.
I hate to say it, but I think McCain’s smears may be gaining traction. My folks live in Arizona, and said that a lot of folks out there have a negative view of Hayworth, because of things like National Grants. McCain, unfortunately, appears to be successfully planting a meme. Shame too, I’d love to see Hayworth take down the Alpha RINO in the herd.
I don’t know about you, but I am waiting for this moment to take place...
Lady stands up at a McCain campaign event, says...
I’m afraid of this J.D. Hayworth guy. He’s one of the worst we had in Congress. Now he wants to be a Senator. He scares the hell out of me.
McCain grabs the mic and says...
You don’t have anything to fear from a Hayworth term in office.
I have a great deal of respect for Conservatives and their goals.
It’ll never happen, and that says quite a bit about McCain.
McCain threw the election for Obama by suspending his campaign to cheerlead for the bailout.
McCain is so low he would have to climb a ladder to touch bottom.
Hayworth should be drawing their attention to McCain’s record - that is a legitimate “smear”.
John McCain is conceivably the WORST Republican oout there aside from Collins, Graham, and Snowe who make it a close tie.
But is J.D. a “10 Point” huckster?
Leave the Huckabigots alone , they're Human beings!
Except the one that strangled a dog .
It was just alphabetical. JC, JD.
