Something I've wondered for a long time -- just how many federal government agencies are there? Dept of Homeland Security, Dept of Education, Dept of Labor, Dept of Interior -- and on and on it goes.

Also -- how many people work for each of these and what the #@%* do they all do all day????

I realize the Post Office continually turns a staggering loss, but I’ll never understand all of the animosity. I’ve used the postal systems in about two dozen countries and NONE of them compare to the USPS. I wouldn’t hesitate to say it’s among the best in the world.

Sure, it’s got unions.
Sure, it throws away cash.

But, the mail does get there, despite a myriad of issues.
Imagine how good it could be with proper oversight and reorganization.

Both have become decision makers in our government on behalf of the governed.

The Post Office is getting a bum rap. My list starts with Public Schools, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, EPA is not here to help; not sure what the INS does in connection with enforcing our Immigration laws, Dept. of Energy (are we independent yet), and TSA. The words incompetent and/or corrupt come to mind.

All three have carte blanche to shaft the defenseless.

Really? They're there to keep Arizona and any other uppity states from enforcing the law. That's becoming a full-time job for a much bigger staff than they have now.

I agree. I think the post office is one government service that is out there working every day and doing a good overall job. Inefficient? Yes. But so is the military and I don’t see that on the list anywhere.
