Michigan's Dueling Ban Is History (First move toward Sharia?)
WWJ Radio (part of state-controlled CBS) ^

It is no longer a crime to fight a duel in Michigan. But that doesn't mean it's okay to break out the pistols or sharpen the swords.

The Michigan Legislature, in an effort to get some archaic laws off the books, is declassifying dueling as a crime. It may also soon no longer be technically illegal to take a woman against her will and force her to marry.

They call this an efort "to scrub the books of outdated laws." But the changes addressed track with Sharia law, which looks at dueling and forcing women into marriage as perfectly OK!

Michigan's outgoing DEMOCRAT governor (born in socialist Canada) looks to be giving the state a nudge toward Sharia on her way out!

Shocked?? In Michigan? Where fear reigns when the local team is about to WIN. I’m shocked you ask.

Dueling would be covered by murder. And clearing old laws off the books is a good thing, it prevents someone from being prosecuted for something people don’t think of as crimes anymore. For instance preaching polygamy, noone agrees with it, but few people think it should be a crime.

The common law had provisions permitting dueling not all that long ago.

Dueling would be covered by murder.

Actually, NO. Dueling could be easily argued to be merely self defense, NOT murder--as after all each man has a gun.

And clearing old laws off the books is a good thing, it prevents someone from being prosecuted for something people don’t think of as crimes anymore.

Who doesn't think that dueling and wife-napping (although not a problem) are not crimes anymore?

For instance preaching polygamy, noone agrees with it, but few people think it should be a crime.

Are you nuts? Polygamy still is a crime in all 50 states, just because most of us still do think it should be illegal--due to its damage to women and families.

Good.

Let me be the first to challenge jennifer granholm, debbie stabenow, and carl levin to a duel.

I’m waiting.

Well, don’t be shocked, in more than a few states dueling is quite legal, and only illegal for members of the National Guard.

Now granted, Granholm had no such romantic notions when signing this into law, but Dueling is not as outdated as one may think.

Far more than just common law, several state constitutions have the “right” to duel contained therein:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duel

“Alaska – No statutory duelling prohibition
Arizona – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[30]
Arkansas – See Constitution above; specifically prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[30]
California – No statutory duelling prohibition – California Penal Code Sections 225 through 232, repealed in 1994
Colorado – C.R.S. 18-13-104
Connecticut – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[31]
Delaware – No statutory duelling prohibition
Florida – See Constitution above
District of Columbia – D.C. Code 22-1302
Georgia – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[32]
Hawaii – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[33]
Idaho – Idaho Code 19-303
Illinois – No statutory duelling prohibition
Indiana – No statutory duelling prohibition
Iowa – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[34]
Kansas – No statutory duelling prohibition for civilians; prohibited for personnel of the state national guard[35]
Kentucky – K.R.S. 437.030
Louisiana – No statutory duelling prohibition...”

Excuse the use of Wiki for that information however this was a topic of some fascination at one time.

She was bad before the election of Obozo but once he was elected she went hog wild.

However the michigan senate is in GOP hands so nothing liberal has happened without their help.

Actually, NO. Dueling could be easily argued to be merely self defense, NOT murder--as after all each man has a gun.

The prosecutor could argue conspiracy to murder, since there was an agreement to enter a a situation where one of two people would die.

Who doesn't think that dueling and wife-napping (although not a problem) are not crimes anymore?

Murder(or conspiracy to murder) and kidnap.

Are you nuts? Polygamy still is a crime in all 50 states, just because most of us still do think it should be illegal--due to its damage to women and families

I said preaching polygamy not polygamy.
