What Barton said wasn’t popular, and it sure wouldn’t win friends at a time that everyone is demonizing BP, but on principle he is right.

They had a right to due process.

Rush you are wrong. I want to win in November not defend a grossly negligent foreign corp to score negative publicity points.

We don’t have any leadership in Washington. As a group, they are whores & cowards.

BP wanted to drill in 50 foot deep water and the government said absolutely not.

So then BP said ok we’ll drill down 500 feet and still the government said no.

So, BP was essentially forced to drill 35,000 foot down offshore.

And everybody is shocked something went wrong?

I never used to buy BP gas before April 20. Now it’s the ONLY gas station I go to.

When we take back congress in November, the first thing that needs to be done is REMOVE John Boner from the leadership position. I have watched this guy closely for years. He talks a good conservative game but is really a fraud. He is NOT a true conservative. We need to make Pence the speaker. Then in the Senate, make Jim Demint the leader.

We must get rid of the mooshy country club republicans, starting with Boehner

OK...I get it.

They're trying to milk this issue for all it's worth to divide conservatives.

Won't work. It's already yesterday's news despite Emmanuel's trying to whip it up yesterday and CNN trying to help him today.

Keep up the talk on the drilling moratorium instead. That one's got long legs and will hurt Dems a LOT.

As well he should. The Republican leadership is worthless and a pack of panty-waists.

Rush, as usual, is right. Our ‘president’ is a thug. His administration practices thuggery. It is one thing to recognize that BP has made mistakes. It is another thing altogether to bully them; Obama’s behavior is illegal. We must have a dozen reasons to impeach this SOB. Any takers?

Barton is right, Rush is right.

Boehner and the neo-Statists are WRONG.

Boehner does NOT deserve to lead anything but a group of kindergarteners on a walk through the Capitol building.

What Joe Barton said was the truth. The $20 billion IS a shakedown.

Barton was correct. Reactions like this from the Republicans are a huge reason that the Tea Party came into being.

Barton called it. It was/is a shakedown. Pure and simple. Saying otherwise just shows a lack of backbone and/or corruption. BP is no hero, but that doesn’t nullify calling a spade a spade. (And, no, that’s NOT a racial slur.)

Limbaugh will probably lose some listeners in our area. Take that for what you will.

I don’t think people who don’t have the gun of this spill cocked directly at them and their way of life realize just how scarring an event this is already been.

We’re not just talking about beach cleanup here. We are talking about the very possible destruction of a way of life that has existed for 300 years and a situation which, if we never recover from it, will probably force the lions share of people down here to leave and never come back, a transition of the population not seen since the Great Migration of the blacks 100 years ago.

That’s why if you’re not from the part of the world that’s dealing with the first hand you really have no business commenting on it because you don’t realize what’s at stake.

I don’t think it was a shakedown. I think it was a deal to insulate the BP execs from criminal and probably civil liability.

BP had Jamie Gorelick at the table. You don’t call her unless you are about to screw over the United States in grand fashion.

BP cashed in all their campaign donation chips.
