Oil Companies Challenge Administration’s Drilling Moratorium

Washington (CNSNews.com) – A federal judge will rule Wednesday whether to uphold President Barack Obama’s six-month moratorium on offshore drilling, a response to the massive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Several oil service companies asked a federal judge on Monday to block the U.S. Interior Department from enforcing a six-month moratorium on new deepwater drilling projects in the Gulf of Mexico. The lawsuit filed claims the government arbitrarily imposed the moratorium and suspended drilling at 33 existing exploratory wells without any proof that the operations posed a threat.

U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman is scheduled to hear arguments Monday in New Orleans on Hornbeck Offshore Services’ bid for lifting the moratorium.

But the White House on Monday defended the government’s position.

“The president is doing everything he can to ensure the safety of those workers. Until people say that he had done everything that he thinks is appropriate, for their safety, he doesn’t want to move forward,” White House spokesman Bill Burton said. “The defense is we go into this mess because of people who cut corners. We’re not going to cut corners.”

The lawsuit was originally filed by Louisiana-based Hornbeck Offshore Services LLC and joined by more than a dozen companies involved in offshore drilling operations. It is the first lawsuit seeking to reverse the drilling ban imposed by the U.S. Department of Interior.

I hope the judge kicks nobama’s ass until it bleeds.

Remember that the drilling moratorium is just another step in accomplishing nobama overarching goal of destroying the US economy.

Clearly Obama is overreaching as president.

Not only trashing the Constitution but also far exceeding his authority even as president.

Obama is making decisions that are the responsibility of Congress and the individual states.

Under the Constitution, he clearly has no mandate to do this.

Obama should be tried immediately under the Articles of Impeachment.

Not only for this but also his irresponsibility to secure our borders.

I was floored about the Soros news - his investment in Brazil's state run oil company & then getting BO to invest billions of OUR dollars in the company when they drill far deeper while his U.S. moratorium is putting many thousands of people out of work.

WHAT I'M TRULY SHOCKED ABOUT IS THAT NO OTHER NEWS IS REPORTING IT - NOT EVEN FOX!!! THIS SHOULD AT LEAST BE A HEADLINE IN THEIR NEWS!!!

sign me disgusted.....
