Birth Tourism, a Loophole for Terrorists?

Don’t think I wouldn’t catch the next flight out of Istanbul and head for the U.S. if I had the money and opportunity to birth my baby in the best country in the world, and have my child become, presto, a legalized citizen of the U.S.

All told, it would cost me about $45,000 including luxury hotel accommodations along with hospital and doctor’s costs. Not a bad price to pay for instant access to excellent medical, educational, and economic prospects. Oh, and my baby also gets the privilege of applying for her foreign born family members to join her once she turns twenty-one.

Marmara Manhattan Hotel, part of a Turkish hotel chain, has an offer that no one—who desires easy access to the States—could refuse. Stay a couple of months in New York City, have your baby, and voila, instant connection to all things American. The popular interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment ensures the process to be completely legal.

The increase in birth tourism in this country doesn’t bode well for our national security. At a time when foreign terrorists want nothing more than to bring America to her knees, we must have legislation which reverses the long held practice of conferring the rights of citizenship on children born here who have foreign nationals for parents.

Stretching a loophole into a gaping fissure has created the unintended consequence of allowing nonresident foreign visitors to walk into the U.S., claim citizen rights for their newborn babies and, ultimately, for themselves.

The present day definition of birthright citizenship began with the Fourteenth Amendment. The Citizenship Clause states:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.

The USA got big and lazy because we have oceans between us and a most of the world’s idiots and Allah worshipers. But these days they can just fly here and get in on a student or tourist visa and stay forever as long as they don’t get caught in criminal acts. Or they sneak in via Mexico like the Cubans and Chinese and Central Americans

This article hits home. A few days ago, a lady in my group of friends (whi is quite pregnant - not sure how many months, but it must be 7 or 8) hopped on a plane, first class ticket, from Kenya to Vegas. Purpose, she will literally do what the article describes ...stayin luxury hotels until she gives birth. Why would she do this? So that the chils has American documentation, then once the kid has the papers she comes back. Inwas quite speechless to be honest with you when I was told. It is quite weird because none of us are lacking (we are actually doing quite well) and I do not even begin to understand why she is doing that. However, she is. It is not that we couldn’t go to the US for visits or business (and over two thirds of my friends - actually all but - are people, like myself, who spent years in foreign countries ...US, UK, Germany, Australia and Canada ...and decided to come back to Kenya to make money, which worked quite well). Thus we are all quite perplexed with her actions ...it seems quite dishonest and, honestly, beneath her. However she went! To get what one of us was mocking her as an anchor baby. Thus, what the article says is happening, even from people who really shouldn’t be doing this. A 28 year old female earning a dollar equivalent of over 250k a year with her own biz shouldn’t be doing that, but rght now she is there! A tad plebian

Thousands of Hong Kong Chinese sent their pregnant wives here to give birth before the British handed their former colony back to the Chinese government, I am told. I think it’s called “hedging their bets”.

Harry Reid strikes again - new bureaucracy & more Aliens-Travel Promotion Act

“Democrats plan to continue the strategy with a tourism promotion bill, The tourism bill, especially helpful to states such as Nevada, which has been hard hit by a drop-off in visitors, proposes creating a nonprofit corporation to promote travel to the United States and correct “misperceptions about US entry policy” since the 9/11 attacks. It would be financed by an annual assessment of $20 million from the tourism industry and $100 million a year from taxpayers. “

Let’s dissect this, shall we?

“The tourism bill, especially helpful to states such as Nevada, .......

Harry is behind in the polls for his re-election...just buying some votes!

Nonprofit? Since when has any government bureaucracy been for profit?? Will this be another cabinet level department? Yet another Czar? ‘non-profits’ will likely be in charge of handling this department....can you say ACORN???

In other words, let ‘em all in! 40% of foreign aliens become visa overstay illegal aliens. Foreign women, even the well to do, come here to drop their anchor babies and then take them home to grow up as “US voting citizens”, where they don’t even have to be here to vote in our elections..... Or they stay here and get the benefits of any US Citizen. This directly effects countries who sponsor terrorism.

Tourism industry....that would be Harry’s big donors at the Vegas casino’s. He must keep those big donors happy! $20 million to them is a great investment to get the rich Saudi’s, etc. in their casinos who can’t get here now because they sponsor terrorism. And the employees? Can you say SEIU???

By the way, John McCain gets most of his money from the big casino boys in Vegas. Let’s see if he’s one of the republicans who help Harry out with this dangerous legislation.

Not true.

Of the total of illegal aliens, 40% are from visa overstays, and 60% are from illegal entries (entry without inspection).

But that is not the same as what you said, that 40% of thsoe legally entering the US are overstaying their visas. Most visitors do go home.

Nope, that’s not what you said, which was “40% of foreign aliens”.

All of the visitors are “foreign aliens”. To be an alien is not illegal. There are scores of millions of foreign aliens visiting us. Only a few overstay to become “illegal aliens”. Otherwise we would have 100 million ilegal aliens by your definition.

Language is precise. Use it accordingly.
