The Obama administration has decided to file suit to block a new Arizona law aimed at deporting illegal immigrants, thrusting itself into the fierce national debate over how the United States enforces immigration policies.
The move is a rare instance of the federal government forcefully intervening in a states affairs, and it carries significant political risks. With immigration continuing to be a hot-button issue in political campaigns across the country, the Arizona law, which gives local police greater power to check the legal status of people they stop, has become a rallying point for the Tea Party and other conservative groups.

[A State Department spokesman, Philip J. Crowley, said Mrs. Clinton was responding to deep unhappiness over the law that has been expressed in Mexico and other Latin American countries.]
Whaaaa??!! Why should we care what Mexico and Latin America think? Just whose side are these guys on??
Unfortunately, there will be no ruling before November. This will go to the SCOTUS. But only AFTER Kagan puts something in the conservative justice’s coffee.
No surprises.
Obozo = Anti-American
Must show cause first/
Washington DC has outlived it’s purpose. It appears to be time to dissolve the federal leadership, and start over. When the Feds decide to go against the states like this, the Feds have gained too much control, and they must either release that control or be removed by force
Thanks.
Other states should pass Arizona-style laws ASAP. There must be 5, 10, 20 “Arizonas”, so that obama will be in a war that he can’t win!
If obama can’t win that war, the American people win BIG!!!! This is about a lot more than just immigration—it is about resisting obama’s entire program for the destruction of America. RESIST!!!!
As far as the “Latin American opinion” that the Hillary witch is so “sensitive” to, Latin America can just float out to sea for awhile until this whole thing is settled in favor of Arizona. Strict enforcement of immigration law and restriction of Third World immigration to the US, coupled with the right kind of help, can even be GOOD for Latin America, especially Mexico!!!!

“...You think other states will try anything?”
Hopefully.
The only way to curtail this idiot’s misrule is to overwhelm him with opposition. Say, about 38-40 states worth.
Disregard for the Constitution, the Constitutionally legal will of the people of Arizona, and the citizens of the United States. Sounds like a dictator to me.
Didn’t Lincoln do this in South Carolina and the repercussions weren’t good. A good comparison? You tell me.
“Washington DC has outlived its purpose.”
You entirely CORRECT! Now, what are we going to do about it?
Ignore the lawsuit and tell that punk Halfrican to go FK himself . Time to light the fire .
Same thing our founding fathers did. Start with a new constitution, and a declaration of independence. One thing is for sure, either we succeed, or we will all hang. (Quoting Ben Franklin)
See my post #28, please.
Resist, resist, RESIST!!!!
Is there any movement forming to demand Obama and all of his appointed personnel resign like Nixon was forced to?
“Unfortunately, there will be no ruling before November. This will go to the SCOTUS”
Could be. But, I don’t think it’s a lock that it will go to SCOTUS. It will first be heard by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in...... San Franwierdo.... I think.
The 9th is a circus for sure (or else they wouldn’t call it the 9th circus) , but they might NOT uphold the Governments case.
Time for a petition calling for Barry BS to resign.
I view this as HUGE progress. Why? Here we have the New York Times accurately reporting on the issue.
I agree. The end to every sitting elected official even to those we might like. Vote them all out. We all need to be out with the Tea Party.
