The Obama administration has decided to file suit to block a new Arizona law aimed at deporting illegal immigrants, thrusting itself into the fierce national debate over how the United States enforces immigration policies.
The move is a rare instance of the federal government forcefully intervening in a states affairs, and it carries significant political risks. With immigration continuing to be a hot-button issue in political campaigns across the country, the Arizona law, which gives local police greater power to check the legal status of people they stop, has become a rallying point for the Tea Party and other conservative groups.

Go for it long legged mack daddy biatch!
The move is a rare instance of the federal government forcefully intervening in a states affairs
What planet is this writer on? Apparently, rare means something different there.
bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can the federal govt sue a state govt for supporting and enforcing federal law? With a straight face that is.
that #&$*%*@!.. ok impeach Obama. He is no U.S. President!
He is the all knowing all powerful oz...
AZ dares to challenge the messiah? Watch what happens. You think other states will try anything?
The Arizona law is no different that what is already written in federal law and also is in the California penal code. I also believe it is also in several other states law.
The problem is the feds don’t want it enforced because the dims want all the wetback votes. And that is the bottom line-—all the other hype is BS.
I hope we get a decent judge when these pukes get it to court — and not a clintonista appointee.
They CAN NOT do anything until the law goes into effect.
Let me get this straight. I smell COWARDESS, big time. The Obama admin. ignores their promised deadline response to Jan Brewer. They announce, through Hillary in a foreign country, that they’re going to sue Arizona. COWARDESS abounds here. Jan asked for funding for border control material support and manpower. That has nothing to do with the Arizona bill. NOTHING. So not only did Obama IGNORE the deadline, he followed up on his promise with a non-sequitur. This is an outrage, but then again, what isn’t when it comes to the Obama Administration?
Yeah, let’s not think of the oil spill, Khalid Mohammed, Healthcare or the upcoming Cap and Take the rest or our money bill.
Instead, let’s try to get Harry Reid reelected.
The main thing is vote the Democrat bastards out and if they keep this up ,it will happen. If it is racial and they want to make it racial- THEY LOSE.
At this point, Jan Brewer, the governor of Arizona, should direct the Arizona National Guard to the border, despite the expense. A Joe Arpaio-style tent jail should be erected, and illegals should be detained there, and if ICE refuses to accept them for deportation, or tries “catch and release”, then they should be tried by a State judge, and returned to the tent jail on conviction.
They can be held for up to a year, and several months more after conviction, unless they agree to voluntarily repatriate by being flown to Mexico City, 1400 miles from the border.
Then, if Obama continues with the lawsuit, she should request that the Arizona State legislature pass a resolution to convene a constitutional convention.
When they do so, and I think they would, she should officially notify all of the other 49 State governors of Arizona’s resolution, and once 33 other States agree to it, that Arizona officially extends an offer to host the constitutional convention.
Temporary Injunction?
Amnesty law would be my guess.....
or,
...you need to show us the obambi long form BC to establish standing.
This is a win-win for the American People. If Arizona wins, then we ALL win and Obama is handed a busing political defeat.
If the US Government wins, then people become VERY angry and help to really force change in November.
Either way Obama loses.
I've heard some say that AZ is encroaching on the federal responsibility for immigration policy. There is no doubt that the Federal Constitution leaves that in the hands of the Congress. But AZ is not seeking to define policy - they are just seeking to enforce the law within their boundaries.
The potential for this to be an exploding cigar in the face of the USDOJ is clear in the delay that lapsed from the implementation of this law. Holder and Obama have said that they were studying the law and formulating a strategy, as to whether or not to challenge it. That could have been done months ago. The significance of the delay is that I suspect Holder has figured out the critical path to a defeat or to procedural element s which would be embarrassing to the administration and waited until the point at which filing would not lead to an embarrassment before November 2nd. They want to be able to bang the drum for their base, they don't case about the law.
I think this can also lead to problems for Kagan’s confirmation process, and they may have delayed filing the suit to try and clear that.
Call Jan Brewer at (602) 542-4331, press “2” to leave a message of support. God Bless Jan Brewer! The fight is on.. The American people vs. the U.S. Gov.. Never thought I’d say that, but that’s where we are.
