PHOENIX Governor Jan Brewer said she was stunned and angered to learn during an Ecuadorean television interview with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Obama Administration had decided to sue Arizona over its recently passed anti-illegal immigration law, SB1070.
Video of the interview can be seen at Governor Brewers Arizona Border Security Information website: www.azgovernor.gov/AZBorderSecurity.asp Secretary Clinton announced during the interview on June 8th that President Obama has directed the U.S. Justice Department to bring a lawsuit against the Arizona law.
This is no way to treat the people of Arizona, said Governor Brewer. To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the Secretary of State is just outrageous. If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation.
Governor Brewer said, I just visited with the President in the Oval Office about our differences over immigration policy, and the one firm understanding we had was that within two weeks he would provide details of his commitment to deploy National Guard troops to the border. While I am grateful that communications have taken place about a possible visit by Administration staff before the end of the month, there is not yet a confirmed date. More importantly, no information about additional troop and border security enhancements has been provided by the Obama Administration to the citizens of Arizona.
Governor Brewer recently announced the creation of a legal defense fund for private contributions in defense of Arizonas illegal immigration enforcement measures www.keepazsafe.com.
Over $22,000 in contributions have been made to the border legal defense fund since its announcement yesterday evening. Over $26,000 had previously been sent unsolicited to the Governor for legal defense of Arizona, for an approximate total of $48,000 in the fund.
Wake up you blind woman!
That’s why I said we need a password. A word that the AZ officials recognize as being AZ-friendly.
Sue? That’s simple... just kill all the lawyers first.
Bush (all of them) = filthy RINO scum
“Its strange, I always thought Texas would lead the charge against the federal government.”
.
Texas is basically all talk.
There is as much socialism in Texas as in any new england state.
.
I know they’ll turn.
This isn’t a European feudal hell hole.
.
There is not. However, a judge can declare that action to be frivolous and order the Federal government to pay all legal fees incurred by the State of Arizona. Remember Billy Dale?
He sure did and he sure as hell did nothing but exacerbate the invasion. He ignored our immigration laws did NOTHING to secure the border and he might at well have called 'all-in all-in free'. Actually he did with his campaign commercials in Spanish. He was a sovereignty & culture destroying traitor.
SP: “Surely there is a prohibition in the Constitution that forbids such retaliation...”
Hoodat: “There is not”
.
The point you miss is that there is no place in the constitution that empowers a president to take such unlawful unilateral action.
.
If the government is going to arbitrarily pick and choose which of their laws to enforce, I am going to arbitrarily pick and choose the ones I’ll obey.
That's tagline material, right there.
What if she loses the lawsuit, as I expect she will, yet she and Arizona still do not give in? Will it result in Civil War II? If so, would you join them?
Well done.
It’s revealing that you take my detailing of Bush43’s behavior regarding illegal immigration to be ‘attacking’ him. You aren’t accusing me of falsely representing what he did, because I’m not. It can only be an attack if accurately describing his behavior reveals that he was doing something which he shouldn’t. Which I agree is exactly what he was doing. He took an oath to enforce our laws. But he ran for the office hinting in a number of speeches that he had no intention of enforcing our border laws. And he lived down to his hints.
Reagan did nothing like that. He didn’t run for office stating that “family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande”. I’ll condemn Reagan’s amnesty, but Reagan the man possessed a far better character than the duplicitous oath-scorning Bush43.
And yet what I write makes enough sense for you to understand it. I’ll bet you even understand that idolatry is shameful. And as you say, “shame on you”.
That's what utter weakness and abject incompetence brings. But man, with Obama waging passive-aggressive war against at least two states in one day...Lord knows, you can't tell the players even with a program.
Nothing good will come of this. Just how frustrated are people? I see it out on the road and at work and I myself feel stressed out, anxious and bitterly angry because of what I keep reading about this little bi**h in our White House. He needs gotten rid of. I swear it’s like watching a fire and you know there’s a way to stop it but nobody will let you get to the hose! I don’t want civil war. I don’t want my little grandson going through that and a depression and who knows what else. HE NEEDS IMPEACHING.
Arizona has the right to enforce its borders under the 10th amendment.
Ask this of your liberal friends:
if the administration is concerned that the AZ law might lead to racial profiling, but otherwise want to secure the birder, then why are they going SOUTH of the border to give assurances that the law will not stand?
I would LOVE to get their answer to that.
Then why do we have one to two million or them here? Why does Rick Perry refuse to follow Arizona’s lead?
