This is the moment a white American police officer punches a teenage black girl in the face after a dispute about how she and her friend crossed the road. Video footage of Officer Ian Walsh lashing out at the 17-year-old in Seattle has shocked the U.S.
The teenager reels backwards in shock from the blow before clutching her face while a bystander can be heard asking: ‘Are you serious?’
Police arrested the girl, Angel Rosenthal, and her friend, 19-year-old Marilyn Ellen Levias, both of whom have criminal records. Seattle Police chiefs have launched an investigation into the alleged assault after viewing the video footage. Civil rights activists are outraged and say the punch was an action of anger not self-defence. The incident comes weeks after another two Seattle officers seen kicking a Hispanic robbery suspect who later turned out to be innocent. James Kelly, who heads the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle group, said of the police: ‘Shame on you. The use of violence in the form of a full-blown fist to the face was wrong.
‘What the 17-year-old did was wrong,’ he told ABC News. ‘I'm not making any excuses for her, but two wrongs don't make a right.’ And a woman with whom the 17-year-old lives echoed his statements.
‘She's not a criminal,’ the woman, who would not give her name, said as she waited for a juvenile court hearing for the teen yesterday. ‘She ran into a situation that maybe wasn't right, but two wrongs don't make a right.’

You’re right, if it had been two white teenagers this would not have been news. Having said that, how often do you hear of white people behaving in the manner of those two?
That’s excessive and ridiculous. What was their excuse? But Good Gravy! Don’t even SUGGEST profiling muslims at airports!
What I can’t figure out is why this cop was ALONE?? No partner?
Doesn’t another cop usually show up, like, real quickly?

Perhaps you haven't read or heard this, but due to the nature of the intersection, there had been a high rate of pedestrian-vehicle accidents. The City went to the expense (spent 'our' MONEY) on providing a SAFE overhead walkway. The officer was on assignment to patrol that area and specifically ticket jaywalkers, in order to reduce the accidents, and ensure that people would adjust to using the walkway.
These two women KNEW there was a walkway, knew cops were giving out tickets for jaywalking at that specific intersection, BECAUSE THEY WERE WATCHING THE COP GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A TICKET FOR DOING SO. They then did the same thing right in front of him, thinking he was too busy to catch them. They were wrong.
I have a church that is on a major intersection. They have cops with radar there much of the time during school. They give out tickets specifically to people who speed in a school zone.
Why? Because if they don't, children get hurt.
If you were to refuse to pull over, or get out of the vehicle, or take the ticket, or tried to fight with them, you would be lucky if you only got one light crack in the face. This is no different than the reason the officer was patrolling a jaywalking zone with a high accident rate, and dealt with some teenagers who thought they could just 'flaunt' the law in his face.
Lol, it’s true! What do you do? Get beat down for saying something. I just went to the police station and complained, told them that they were violating my right! I did nothing wrong, except that they thought I was in the wrong area of town! I also told the Sargent that they can’t even ask if an illegal is an illegal.
But he found out I was a hard working professional conservative and we talk about libs and what they are doing to this country for almost an hour.
I haven’t been pulled over in my neighborhood since then.
Anything to fill the almost bankrupt cities coffers. We are all going through it. But I'm not trying to take from the fact that they may feel they will have more success with stopping a black man that they feel might not have the money to meet all his driving obligations.
I once had a friend in the Secret Service, and I was saying how proud I was of our police department, this was years ago when I was young and dumb. He told me flat out how stupid that idea was. He said that if the cops were ordered to shoot everyone wearing a red shirt that they would gladly go out and carry out their orders and I would be naive to think otherwise.
I looked at him as if he had grown two heads, now with some of the things I have seen through the years, I just don't know anymore.
It's just like everything else.
Some is good. Too much or too little is bad.
She was resisting arrest. Period.

Here in the Seattle area, 80% of folks are solid in support of the officer. We are all sick of smarmy black utes jaywalking with the “F U” look as they peer into your windshield.
Watch the video for yourselves, it is pretty cut and dry. The cop was brave, surrounded by ghetto kids, did his job. His punch got the fat animal to reel in pain, and get away from him. Even the fat animal’s boyfriend was TRYING to hold her back from getting involved with the officer.
What the vid does not show, is that the original jaywalker was boy/kid in the blue hat. 4 girls then decided to also jay walk even though the cop told them NOT to... The police report is available online.
What does that even MEAN? Although I have seen on Cops that they tell white kids they are in the wrong area. *sigh*

That’s true. But I keep waiting for it to dry out a little so that I can feed the roses by watering them ( it mixes in a gallon of water). Kinda useless to water them in the rain. ;-)
Taking a guess here, but I’d suspect a cop is trained to punch a person in the face, near the eyes, mouth, nose, so the pain makes the person pull back, withdraw their hands to their own face. With a choice of clubs, gun, taser, or fist, the cop certainly had to use one or the other.
The cop is being criticized for not having taken the girl down on the ground. But when you look at the vid, it’s pretty clear why the cop didn’t want to be on the ground with the smarmy little animal. He would have been jumped/kicked if he was down, because he was surrounded by jackals.
Gee...who didnt see this comming...

In Africa the cops would have taken a sugar cane stalk to her, screeching at the law like that. Maybe African Americans should get African justice.
