This is the moment a white American police officer punches a teenage black girl in the face after a dispute about how she and her friend crossed the road. Video footage of Officer Ian Walsh lashing out at the 17-year-old in Seattle has shocked the U.S.
The teenager reels backwards in shock from the blow before clutching her face while a bystander can be heard asking: Are you serious?
Police arrested the girl, Angel Rosenthal, and her friend, 19-year-old Marilyn Ellen Levias, both of whom have criminal records. Seattle Police chiefs have launched an investigation into the alleged assault after viewing the video footage. Civil rights activists are outraged and say the punch was an action of anger not self-defence. The incident comes weeks after another two Seattle officers seen kicking a Hispanic robbery suspect who later turned out to be innocent. James Kelly, who heads the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle group, said of the police: Shame on you. The use of violence in the form of a full-blown fist to the face was wrong.
What the 17-year-old did was wrong, he told ABC News. I'm not making any excuses for her, but two wrongs don't make a right. And a woman with whom the 17-year-old lives echoed his statements.
She's not a criminal, the woman, who would not give her name, said as she waited for a juvenile court hearing for the teen yesterday. She ran into a situation that maybe wasn't right, but two wrongs don't make a right.

What I saw: The girl amped up the attack and the cop responded. He then pretty much backed off on the force, notice after the punch, and the crowd reaction, he was just dancing around with her. Once he went for it with that punch he should have manhandled the cuffs on fast.
Unless you enjoy walking across the street as slooooooooow as possible just to see who you can piss off.
You too huh?
I see that crap all the time where I’m at.
Dancing and grooving through the crosswalk as slow as they can.
Still in the crosswalk even when the traffic lights have turned green, folks can’t proceed because those jackasses are still in the crosswalk.
Daring people to do something.
And illegal immigrants (Muslims, Mexicans, South Americans), Anarchists, college-students, White-supremacists, and teenagers in general.
So, sadly, race does have something to do with it.
Actually, it is more like a 'sub-culture' that uses skin color to hide behind. Other 'sub-cultures' use different disguises to hide behind, including religion.
Glad to see you have enough sense not to repeatedly ram your head into the wall.
Sometimes the best thing to do is what you did. Just let it go. No amount of facts will every change their mind.
If you go back earlier in the thread where MoeHoward posted , you will see that he posted to LarryHoward.
Get it?
MOE, LARRY, CURLY.
If you have two accounts, it is pretty easy to make a ‘troll’ type post, then support it with your other screenname.
Is this person using that tactic? I don’t know but if not, it is a very convenient coincidence.
Further confirmation (coincidence).
When I first find a poster who makes some wildly tangent comments on a thread, the first thing I do is go look at their home page. Most of the time, It is blank.
Not only is that poster’s home page blank, but there is not even a STATE FLAG there indicating general location.
Makes it easy to lie about where you are, what you witnessed.
You mean the alleged reasons this walkway was built and the mythical fallout from accidents than might happen?
I'd like to see some substantiation for the claim these skyways were built because of pedestrian accidents. I'm betting they were built when the campus was renovated in the early 90s.
Regardless, despite the fact the traffic around there is usually at a stand still 3PM on school days, people should use the skyway or the crosswalks. All I'm saying is if the city wants to cash in on the jaywalking that routinely takes place there, don't send in a solo anger management case. Or if they do, at least give the fool some back-up.
Situation was getting out of hand. Cop was alone. The two were attacking, he punched back. Perhaps not the appropriate response, but it’s probably what I’d have done. I’m not a cop, BTW.
To use your examples ‘white nationalists’ are probably like .0001 percent of white people. Angry blacks are something like 90% of black people. (I feel really bad for the other 10%.)
I try not to judge people by appearances, but I still cross the street when I see 3 or 4 black youth walking towards me.
People who insist that race means nothing are in denial. That includes much of the Tea Party movement, and many here at Free Republic.
We are in the process of being dispossessed of our homeland by angry minorities who blame us for all that is wrong in their world. What does America have to do with Mexico’s problems. Essentially: nohting.
Still, they will push us down forever. I’m sorry, I wish it were not this way. Buy one side fighting with Marquis d’Queensbury rules while the other uses Ultimate Fighting rules is not going to work out for us.
It’s time for all of us to wake from our slumber and smell the coffee.
Man is THAT the truth!
That's funny because the same thing occurred to me. LOL
Is this person using that tactic?
I don't know. I do know that it's done by some.
I check too and have observed the same thing. Then I check their comments.
I am sick of the police being blamed all the time. If you don’t want negative attention from the law, don’t break it.
Actually I thought it was a nice shot.
She's not a criminal, the woman, who would not give her name, ...
Someone's not keeping up with current events.
Please don’t think that I disagree. I tried to publish the whole title, but it was too long.
“The cop here was acting in self defense to subdue an out of control attitudinal black wacko.”
####
Exactly.
Curiously, my usually very sensible and conservative wife remains outgraged over the simple fact that a man would punch a woman in the face. She would rather he tazed or maced her.
I’ve scheduled her an appointment with a shrink....
