WASHINGTON National anger rising, President Barack Obama is defending his efforts against the country's worst environmental disaster and hoping his first Oval Office address Tuesday night will stoke confidence that he can see the job through until the gushing oil is gone and Gulf Coast lives are back to normal.
"We're going to fight back with everything that we've got," Obama said in Pensacola, Fla., capping a two-day inspection tour of the stricken region before flying back to Washington for his evening address to the nation.
Eight weeks to the day after an offshore oil rig leased by BP PLC exploded, killed 11 workers and sent tens of millions of gallons of crude flooding into the Gulf of Mexico, Obama's high-stakes speech came during a week of constantly unfolding drama.
Lightning even struck. A bolt hit the ship siphoning oil from the still-spewing undersea leak on injuring no one but halting containment efforts for a few hours.
Back on land, as long as the oil keeps flowing, no one seems happy with what anyone is doing to deal with it, from Obama on down.

Pres__ent Obama
Ought to call him ol’ Tee Time ToTUS
Way too little, way too late. He can’t talk his way out of this one.
“President Plugs” is looking better and better each day.
I don’t know about you, but nothing this POS will ever say or do, will convince me that he is doing what needs to be done (or allowing others to do what needs to be done) or that he should EVER deserve anyone’s confidence in him for ANYTHING!
He never had my trust, he never had my respect and he never had my approval....and he NEVER will!!!
The ONLY circumstance I would regret missing a Zero speech would be if he resigned and I didn’t see it live...
Hey Dude, my electricity bills skyrocketed and I will have to listen to you on by hand crank radio.
Way too little, way too late. He cant talk his way out of this one.
He’ll make an ass of himself tonight.
We’ll see but I see this address as highlighting his incompetence. Jindal, Palin, Barbour, even Crist would have been all over this as executives. The AKTUS (or KATUS) makes you pay attention for a moment and then you realize how very small he is compared to the pubbie bench.
"You DONKEY!"
Heckuva job, Barry!
“He cant talk his way out of this one.”
Sure he will. He has the medias head stuck up his butt, and he has environmental groups like the Sierra Club saying he has done a masterful job on the disaster.
Might make it worth watching.
Here’s my prediction:
0’bummer will weasel and whine and make excuse after excuse. He will come off as detached and defensive. His rating number will further decline.
He’s great at teleprompted grand rhetoric and cheer-leading the dumb and dumber. He isn’t so good at selling a stinky product.
But I will not be watching as the man-boy makes me want to puke whenever I here him speak.
What time is it on? It didn’t say, I don’t think. Sure have the address during the pre-game Boston/L.A. game or during the actual game itself. This is much like having the address on a Sunday at 3AM.
From the Chief Flake.
Defending the indefensible
What time does the ass go on TV?
Well, ain’t that where the $100/lb, the Krystaal, and the party is everynight?
