God, I love an A-10.
My car has been searched twice going onto McChord. One time it was loaded with BBQ for a lunch for my hubby’s work mates on the flight line. I got really nervous because they used a dog. I thought: “There goes lunch!”, but the dog’s handler told me not to worry..... the dog wouldn’t touch the food, and he didn’t. I left the guy with a couple ribs and chicken wings.
The second time my car was searched, I had been at a troop support rally for a few hours & decided to hit the commissary on the way home. My support signs were in the back seat, and I was decked out in red, white, and blue. The searchers were an MP trainer and an MP trainee. When the trainer saw the signs, he said: “Here we are searching this lady’s car and she’s been out there supporting US”. I couldn’t help but laugh, and told them that it was totally fine, and that I expected them to do their jobs. I just wish I had had some BBQ for them.

“Officials: Man who tried entering base was AWOL”
By MITCH STACY - Associated Press Writer
SNIPPET: “An AWOL serviceman arrested as he tried to enter MacDill Air Force Base with weapons and ammunition in his vehicle has been charged with desertion and will be turned over to the Army, base officials reported Tuesday evening.
Spc. Christopher Paul Kilburn had been stationed with Alpha Company, 1-16th 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan., a media release from the base said. It did not specify when he left. Kilburn will be turned over to Army officials, and additional charges will be pending as the investigation continues.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office will decide how to charge Kilburn’s companion, Palm Beach resident Micah Noel Goodier.”
SNIPPET: “Investigators were still trying to get to the bottom of the couple’s motivation and intent, Cohen said.”

“Local woman arrested trying to break-in to Air Force base”
June 15, 2010 10:40 PM
JUAN CARLOS FANJUL
SNIPPET: “TAMPA, FL (WPEC)—
SNIPPET: “Officials say man, who was AWOL at the time, and the woman had three rifles, three handguns and loads of ammunition in their sport utility vehicle when they tried to enter the base.”
SNIPPET: “...but have not explained why they were trying to drive in with fraudulent military id’s and a cache of weapons.”
SNIPPET: “CBS 12 spoke to Micah Goodier’s brother Tuesday night via Facebook. Jace Goodier says his sister, who hails from West Palm Beach, has been released to the custody of her husband.
He did not know what she was doing with that man who is now being charged with desertion.
He also has no idea why she would try to break into an Air Force base.”
The cement barriers, the mounted 60 cals, the dogs, the mirrors. The number of uniformed personnel. The thorough vehicle inspections. The LINES waiting and waiting and waiting.......
Brings back memories.
