My car has been searched twice going onto McChord. One time it was loaded with BBQ for a lunch for my hubby’s work mates on the flight line. I got really nervous because they used a dog. I thought: “There goes lunch!”, but the dog’s handler told me not to worry..... the dog wouldn’t touch the food, and he didn’t. I left the guy with a couple ribs and chicken wings.
The second time my car was searched, I had been at a troop support rally for a few hours & decided to hit the commissary on the way home. My support signs were in the back seat, and I was decked out in red, white, and blue. The searchers were an MP trainer and an MP trainee. When the trainer saw the signs, he said: “Here we are searching this lady’s car and she’s been out there supporting US”. I couldn’t help but laugh, and told them that it was totally fine, and that I expected them to do their jobs. I just wish I had had some BBQ for them.
The cement barriers, the mounted 60 cals, the dogs, the mirrors. The number of uniformed personnel. The thorough vehicle inspections. The LINES waiting and waiting and waiting.......
Brings back memories.
