TEHRAN — Iran's opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi was surrounded while in the house of a senior cleric in the holy city of Qom on Sunday by regime supporters who also attacked his car, an opposition website said.

Karroubi had travelled to Qom in central Iran for a mourning ceremony and later called on Ayatollah Yousef Sanaei at his home when "forces linked to the power (regime) surrounded the house," Kaleme.com said.

Would Allah approve if I were to pray that a lightning bolt strike all of the regime hoods in the testacles, and transform them into an ugly harem for the country’s fearless leader?

I think it’s Allah’s wish.

If karoubi was really ready to be a martyr for the Iranian people, he would have taken the opportunity to kill Sanei and die at the same time, rather than be taken alive.

Sanei is to Khamenei, as Zawahiri is to Osama Bin Laden. His death would be a great blow to the Devils servants that are holding the Iranian people in slavery.

You might want to read this....

btw - his Grand Ayatollah title was taken away 5 or 6 months ago as punishment (not quite sure how you do that, but he is no longer to be recognized as such)

“Hossein Karoubi, the opposition leader’s son informed Jaras website that a crowd of close to a hundred people wielding chains, batons and sticks attacked Mehdi Karoubi’s car which was “completely destroyed” in the attack.”

You are right. I am confusing him with a different cleric. One who is a rabidly crazed hardliner, who is more mad than than DCr Strangelove, and would happily send all of the Iranian people to certain death, as long as he and his cadre can sit out an atomic attack in a deep mountain bunker.

I’ve got a mental block going on his name, but he has Khamenei’s ear, and Khamenei hangs on this crazed psychos every word.

I was confusing him with Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi, who also happens to be Amadinijhad’s “spiritual mentor”.

If the Iranians want freedom, imho they would do well to put their lives on the line / start killing the opposition.

They need what we did in supplying the Muhjadihn in Afghanistan against the Soviet occupation including a safe haven across the border which now is Afghanistan. The Saudis and other Sunni gulf states would supply money but would take a commitment from the US which I can't see happening today.

Not directed at you SunkenCiv.

Wonder why Mehdi Karroubi isn’t dead already?!

Is it because IRI allows “real” Opposition to speak out?

Or, is it because Mehdi Karroubi is just there (along with Moussavi), with all his/their PR, to prolong the life of IRI, as a totality, and give legitimacy to a FAKE [Islamic] OPPOSITION, created by IRI, its hardliners & IRI’s [Islamic reformist] foreign supporters?

Neither Mehdi Karroubi nor, Mir Hossein Moussavi are democratic, nor secular. They are different factions of the same despicable Islamic Regime in Iran.

Shame on those who continue to promote them, whether out of ignorance, pride, obstinacy, political correctness, or all the mentioned.

Unfortunately they won’t get any help. The regimes around there will not want to set a bad precedent that the people can rise up against the regime. Iran is surrounded by dictatorships. They acceded to the overthrow of Sadam because he broke an unwritten rule. He engaged in the attempted regicide of Bush senior. Even in the heat of WW II we did not try to kill Hitler. The elites of the world won’t tolerate such an act. Assassination by one’s own people is however accepted and is a legitimate political tactic when concerning dictatorships. The Iranians will have to man up, they will have to steal guns if they have to but essentially are on their own. especially since Obama is sympathetic to the Islamic leadership and he know the opposition is mostly secular and not leftist.
