Frankly, BP ought to take an adversarial posture. They gain nothing by playing nice with that thing in the Whitehouse.

Clever.
Obama made money from the payoffs,
from the investigatory waivers, from the dispersants,
and now from the withheld payouts.

Obama was in bed with BP.
BP gave Obama more campaign cash (technically, the execs of BP, of course) than ANY other politician received.
Also, Rahm Emmanuel got free housing, through a BP advisor.
BP helped finance the Global Warming Hoax!
I do not like BP -—
BUT, they do have rights, and Obama is wrong to set up his own quasi-judicial system here.

Wow...can you imagine the fraud if we turn this over to a FEMA like entity....I still remember the Katrina “victims” shopping at the Gucci store in Atlanta buying $800 purses with FEMA money.

Didn’t Maxine Waters threaten to do something like this, 3-4 years ago?

What a novel way to:
Loot a multinational corporation
Ensure your lackeys “get theirs” (Unions as well)
Skim billions for whatever reason you want
and finally
Ensure the real people who lost their livelihood get screwed by a tidal wave of fraudulent claims. And as in the case of the Exxon Valdez, count on an army of lawyers descending as a plague of locusts over this whole mess.

Surely BP has liability insurance through Lloyds of London, or some such, with rates amd coverage based on rules and caps in place at the time of policy issue.
