Saudi Arabia Gives Israel Clear Skies to Attack Iranian Nuke Sites
Times of London/FOX ^ | June 12, 2010

LONDON -- Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defenses to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times of London reported Saturday.

In the week that the U.N. Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defense sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran. To ensure the Israeli bombers pass without hindrance, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defense systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defenses will return to full alert.

“The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way,” said a U.S. defense source in the area. “They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren’t scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [U.S.] State Department.”

Let's assume this is true.

1. It shows that the Saudis are cowards most willing to allow the hated Jews to do the heavy lifting, as long as they have plausible denial.

2. Once the Israelis have released their ordnance over Iran, the Saudis have no further reason to allow safe passage.

3. There is a logical reason to believe that the Saudis will allow free passage of an Israeli strike to get to Iran, there is no logical reason to believe that they would allow it free passage to get home.

Allowing the strike to hit Iran and then attacking it on the way home would be the best of both worlds for the Saudis. They would be the kings of the Arab street.

The Saudi’s would like nothing more than for the Persians and Israeli’s to cancel each other out in a war which would leave the Sauidi’s as the Alpha dog of the Middle East.

However, this scenario will back fire when Israel turns Iran into teenage wasteland.

It may not have been leaked; perhaps this report is all part of a grand disinformation scheme — psychological warfare against the mullahs of Iran.

I checked the map after reading the article and before posting my comment just to keep my geography straight. Even if Saudi Arabia is a consideration, they are going through Jordan, although it looks there might be an intersection point at the southern most border of Israel.
I think it’s more reliable and likely the U.S. would allow or possibly escort through Iraqi airspace. I didn’t mention it originally because I figured it would be a given.
It’s all conjecture until the planes are in the air though.

Wonder what we paid for that priviledge.

Nothing ... it's in SA's best interests that Iran (Persia) gets knocked down HARD.

I hope Bibi has asked for more than one Corridor and major assurances that the info doesn’t get to the freak in Iran.

It could be a deliberate "leak". Besides, anybody with half a brain could deduce this gambit. Of course, that leaves out Hussein and his crew.

I'm sure the Iranians figured this one out a long time ago. Consider their level of paranoia and tell me they didn't think of this.

Sounds like others may not want Iran nuking up. Sheik rivalry, ehhh.

While Iran is a mooselimb country it is not an arab country and the arabs have had 100's of years of wars with and have developed a great distrust for the persians.

The persians {iranians} look down their long noses at the arabs as being lesser than they are.

Don't ask me why, just one goat herder thinking he is better than his camel loving neighbor.

Israel should nuke iran, and bring plenty of spare bombs in case the saudis get frisky on their return trip.

I have actually been to Iran, on many occasions ... Iran used to be a fairly nice place, until Jimmy Carter gave it to the Muslims. Persians were border-less people originally.

I am not sure where the dislike of Arabs came from, but it was quite evident when I went there.

So no surprise Saudis would fear Iran with nukes.

So WHY don’t the Saudi’s MAN UP and do it THEMSELVES? What in the heck is wrong with Saudi’s ? They breed terrorists and yet allow others to take out the threat of the terrorists who are their next door neighbors? Plesase. This is INSANITY! Leave the dirty work to Israel because Israel is already hated? Geeeeeeeez. Saudi’s aren’t men, they are COWARDS.

*** Ah, machinations in the world of Islam. On the one hand, the Saudis hold gold-a-thons for the Palestinians and on the other, they encourage Israel to attack the Iranians. ***

This has nothing to do with religion (Islam).

Historically, Arabs and Persians do not like each other, and they don't even speak the same native language (Arabic vs Farsi). Many wars have been fought between the Arabs and Persians going back thousands of years of history.

Folks forget that 'Iran' wasn't Iran until modern times. In Farsi 'Iran' means Aryan. The Nazis urged them in 1935 to make the name change as they were 'kindred spirits' and should join against the Jews.

If they went through Iraq, they would have to tell the US what they are doing. You are assuming that the Prez will give clearance. I know the US military would be happy to escort them all the way to Tehran but the bureaucracy might have other ideas.

“You are assuming that the Prez will give clearance.”

AND that he won’t leak the timing/nature of the attack to Iran so that it is fully prepared for it...

This has been pointed out twice - that Iranians are not Arabs. Yet, my post cited the wonderful world of Islam. Islam wants the world to be Islamic. Iran is governed by Islamists.

So, what is it Islam doesn’t like - infidels (non-muslims) or non-Arabs?

If the Saudis let them go through, they will let them get home. Israel is the big kid on the block. Trying to knock down their air force after promising not too might provoke a deadly, unwanted response.
