Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) -- The first poll coming out of California following Tuesday's primary election, where pro-life candidate Carly Fiorina is taking on stalwart abortion activist Sen. Barbara Boxer, shows Fiorina trailing by five percent. The race will likely become one of the marquee battles for the pro-life movement in 2010.

The new Rasmussen Reports poll shows both Boxer and Fiorina received small bumps in their numbers after he Tuesday election.

Now, its survey of likely voters has Boxer picking up 48% support over Fiorina’s 43% and another 5 percent support another candidate while five percent are undecided.

Support for both nominees is at its highest level so far this year as the last poll conducted before the primary election had Boxer with a 45 to 38 percent lead over Fiorina.

"Before the Republican Primary, Fiorina was running worse than primary opponent Tom Campbell, a former congressman. But Fiorina came up strong on Tuesday, picking up 56% of the vote over Campbell’s 22%," Rasmussen notes.

Boxer, who is seeking a fourth six-year term, has yet to reach the 50% level of support in the general election -- a critical mark for incumbents

Plump? She’s renting advertising space on her dresses...

I wonder how many democrats crossed over and voted for Carly ?

None. You cannot crossover in CA. At least that's the way is was and has been. But the moron voters approved Prop 14 which will allow crossover voting.

You can always cross over. It takes very little time to switch party affiliation.

This election can’t be about abortion. The demons have nothing without it. Right now Fiorina can’t do anything about it. She has to be free to attack i’ll right you a check boxer on her record and tie her to BOcare and his lousy economy.

Unless she makes some large errors, I think she’ll win. Unfortunately, I think any R could beat Boxer this year, which is why it is a shame that the choice is between Boxer and Boxer-lite.

By the way, I find it hilarious that some of the ladies here were indignant that I compared Fiorina to Cruella DeVille claiming that it must have been intended covertly as an insensitive comment about Fiorina’s “chemo-hair”.

So, now it seems that “old-chemo hair” thinks that disparaging Boxer’s hair is fair comment.

Contrary to the oracular pronouncements of the defenders of Carly’s chemo-hair, my comment was directed at Fiorina’s personality, and I think it has been borne out. Why isn’t my in-box filled with apologies from the Carly “chemo-hair” brigade?

My guess would be that the belly-shot abortion being a crime is that the law is probably much older than Roe v. Wade.

My cynical side thinks it is because Planned Parenthood doesn’t get paid.

But, because these people are truly lovers of infanticide, if one of these cases were prosecuted today, I’d bet a defense would be that she was just using an alternate method of abortion and is covered by Roe.

ALL elections are about our rights. Life is one of our fundamental unalienable rights! Abortionist Republicans are not the solution, they are part of the problem. In fact, if they refuse to filibuster or refuse to see Life as a litmus test for judges, they ARE the problem.

The pro-abortionists have a really twisted sense of morality. And yet they call themselves Christians!

Well, some of them do. Some whole churches call themselves Christians and support abortion, or take a pass. But others -- agnostics, atheists, Jews -- support abortion but at least don't claim to be Christian. In a way, I find the "others" to be more honest than the faux Christians -- especially the faux Catholics.

You’re not ruining my day. No messiah at the top of the ticket will keep their turnout lighter. We all know getting someone on a phone or the internet is far different from showing up to vote, seeing a line and staying there. I don’t normally go around saying polls are wrong(except Quinnipiac)but they can’t measure enthusiasm nor are they measuring just how fed up people are with the status quo.

I agree with you on it. But right now the issue has been settled by the SCOTUS and until a better argument can be brought to bear before them, I don’t think it should be part of the repubs strategy. They lose on it because it always costs many votes. It is something that can and should be dealt with when the right power structure exists to do it.

Well, if the election cannot be about abortion, then it will turn out to be about hair-dos!

Some part of my thinks that this polling data is designed to get Republicans depressed. It is essential that conservatives turn out to vote. Even in California. Especially in California.

Karl Rove said it well. "Call a friend. Get at least one person to to vote who might have stayed home". The entire advatage in the last election was approximately 26,000 votes nationally. We need to get ourselves in gear.
