After he was charged with first-degree murder by a Peruvian judge, Joran van der Sloot got an earful today from an angry mob of people who yelled and threw objects at him as cops hastily transported the Dutchman to jail.
Lima Superior Court Judge Juan Buendia issued the order before dawn and the 22-year-old suspect was first taken with other prisoners in an armored truck to Lima's judicial palace, then alone to an eastern Lima prison where he will have his own cell in a segregated block.
The aggravating factors are having acted with ferocity and great cruelty, the judge said.
Police manhandled van der Sloot as they ushered him quickly out of the truck at into the judicial palace, a scarf around his neck and his hands cuffed behind him. Two officers pushed his head down.
"Disgrace!" and "Murderer!" angry onlookers yelled as van der Sloot was taken from the prosecutor's office where he had been held since Thursday. One person threw rotten lettuce.

Suicide may be his only out, aside from being murdered in prison. Hopefully the authorities will be able to prevent him from taking the easy way out.
Yep, the Peruvians see death penalty as the “easy way out”, LOL!!!!
That’s what I was thinking ... there may likely be more victims, only 2 that we know of so far.
I like the way Peru has gotten him to talk. We could learn from their interrogation techniques. So could Aruba.
And not knowing how long they will last will weigh on him like an anvil.
And then he'll meet his Maker.
Silly as it might sound...I think I'll pray for his conversion!
Deep in his soul (and he'll be doing a lot of soul searching if he's lucky), there is a small, quiet voice calling his name.
Pick up that phone, Urine!
I would agree with that considering the conditions there. A quick death may be preferable.
mid 60’s isn’t too bad, I suppose. I would not want to be there during the summer at all.
Summer highs average in the low 80’s.
Hmm, the temperatures seem fairly moderate in Peru. This upsets me.
SP, interesting observation about the nurse..

Lima is at 12o latitude, so there really isn’t much of a summer or much seasons. On the west coast, so fairly moderate generally warm weather. Don’t know if they have heat in prisons. Certainly no air conditioning. Air conditioning may not be much needed, and I doubt many people have it.

LOL ... you'll be surprised it was "all the steak he could eat" plus cigarettes any time he wanted, and feed him very good. And then treat him very nice ... :-) [no..., I'm not kidding about the steak and cigarettes, that was straight from the Peruvian authorities...]
That was it.
He had an Dutch Embassy representative there with him for all the interrogations, who did the translating. And he had his lawyer there for all of it.
They basically got a full and good confession from him by being very nice to him ... :-)
Thanks for the follow through.
Aha.
I wish I could understand what they were saying.
I just watched a video of Geraldo.
A new tape from the hotel shows JVDS entering his room with the two cups of coffee. He is wearing the striped shirt and jeans. Which means he had already murdered Stephany - taken a shower and changed clothes.
Geraldo’s guest (the Flores’ family atty) said that JVDS called a hotel employee to the door - to witness the 2 CUPS speculating another person could have accessed the room - which made no sense.
Anyhow - that’s my most recent observation.
