A panel commissioned by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is recommending nearly $1 trillion in cuts to the Pentagons budget over the next 10 years.
The Sustainable Defense Task Force, a commission of scholars from a broad ideological spectrum appointed by Frank, the House Financial Services Committee chairman, laid out actions the government could take that could save as much as $960 billion between 2011 and 2020.

NASA is doing another number along these lines. FUBO is cutting their programs, so they are calling personnel layoffs "replanning". If the 'Pubs were doing it, it would be "Draconian cuts".
Robert STRANGE Macnamara micro-managed Vietnam and wasted most of our bomb supplies plowing empty countryside in Vietnam with carpet bombing. There was no military planning going on. No selection of militarily significant targets. Just endless waste of time, money and materials. If we had carpet bombed Hanoi and mined Haiphong harbor early in the war e.g. 1964, it would have ended much sooner. We wouldn't have turned tail and run.
They’ll never cut social actions. I was in under Carter and that was the only program that was 100% funded. We couldn’t get ammo, spare parts, they cut the B-1, manned overseas bases at 40%, cut out shipments of fresh veggies and meats to our radar site, but EEO and Social actions were going strong.
Makes me effin’ nuts. It hasn’t changed. And those programs were often staffed by people I wouldn’t trust to have my six on a bet.
?My ass?
Not a good choice of words when talking about Barney.
Are you insane? You sound like Barry Goldwater. If the USA had bombed Hanoi, mined Haiphong Harbor, and set up a blockade keeping out supply ships from our European “ALLIES”,
as Goldwater wanted, we would have endured a SIX MONTH intense war and would have suffered a couple of thousand dead.
Johnson/MacNamara took office and the “Peaceniks” got what they wanted. Whee. /s 100 times.
We been down this road once before with massive spending cuts ordered by Harry Truman, we paid for it during the Korean War.
Scrolled down through the thread. I was surprised how little note was taken of the presence of Ron Paul and his Libertarian cohort in Barney Frank’s move to disarm America.
“Just endless waste of time, money and materials”
Yes, but a lot of time, money, and materials were spent, which is the point.
