I just wondered, why doesn't Louisiana, Texas, Florida hire Sarah who has had so much EXPERIENCE AND SUCCESS with the oil companies AND oil spills to handle this now! BOBBY JINDAL ARE YOU LISTENING!!

If you have the ear of anyone in any of these states, she might do it for free!

If she did and came up with a solution, you can bet everything ZERO would put a stop to it so fast you couldn’t see it.

Yes, she could just swim down there and use her magic mama grizzly powers to kill the flow.

She knows WAY more than the engineers at BP, right?

Smartie, it’s about organizing the clean-up, plugging the dam hole is bo’s job.

Interesting idea. I’ve also thought (and of course it’s hindsight now) that the gulf states would have cooperated to design special vehicles/processes/equipment to handle a spill like this.

All the gulf states have tourism, aquaculture, fishing and oil exploration interests. It would have made sense for them to also have had a combined emergency response plan with sweeper ships and oil separating equipment available.

Maybe they are prevented by federal regulation, I’m not sure, or maybe they assumed the federal government would handle the spill for them. For something so critical to their livelihood though, I don’t think I’d want to pass the buck to the Fed Gov. They probably could have received homeland security grants to fund something like this.

I think this is talking about managing the spill as it comes to shore, not stopping the leak. And yes, she has more experience than BP engineers in managing oil spills.

Yeah. She would be in front of the problem, may offer solutions, and the conservative press would prop her give her credit for saving the gulf. As a former boss of mine likes to ask, ‘what could possibly go wrong’...

I hope she is too smart to take them up on this sort of offer...

yes, Jindal. You can take it upon yourself to do more on your own. All you would be doing is saving as much as you can and on one would fault you for that. It’s YOUR state. YOUR people. Just do it!!!

She knows a heluva lot more about it than the guy in the White House. I doubt he could change the oil in his car. He is a smart guy, but i am sure he knew diddly about the facts of oil extraction until this happened. Lincoln also knew nothing about war when he started either, but he got out the books and by the time he turned the thing over to grant, he had a fair command of everything from soup to nuts. I can’t see Obama doing that. He is all blather.

The suggestion to get Palin on the problem was probably made because she is one of the few politicians who has actually dealt with the oil industry and worked with all players involved. George W. Bush & Dick Cheney are two others, but Obama would NEVER ask for their help.

Obama & company are playing “CYA” and “Let No Crisis Go Unmilked”.

This is a very difficult ENGINEERING problem that is compounded by ignorant politicians and pundits threatening and grandstanding.

Palin will listen to engineers, and folks with ideas. There are several problems in play here. The most pressing are:

1) Plug/Cap/Collect the flow.

2) Collect already spilled oil.

3) Clean the coastline.

4) Determine cause of blowout.

5) Determine methods & measures to prevent subsequent blowout.

6) Assess blame.

7) Determine & collect damages.
.
.
.

963) Take credit for solving problem.

Obama & Co. have reversed these priorities.

I think Palin would have taken more iniative. Palin would probably have given Obama a week to act on a response and then started letting contracts. I say this because I think she has that greatest of virtue: guts. I think Jindal thinks too much. I refer you to ...”Liberty Valence.” Palin is John Wayne; Jindal is Jimmy Stewart.

I can’t see Obama doing that.

Neither can I, but I didn't mention him.

Just as he has stymied Jindal.

Local authorities need to proceed regardless.

Assert independence with regard to local emergency measures, and the federales be damned.
