Rush Limbaugh and Sir Elton John's relationship started with problems. Heart problems, that is.
According to conservative talk radio host Mark Levin, a guest at Limbaugh's wedding last weekend, Limbaugh and John were staying at the same hotel in Hawaii when Limbaugh had his heart attack scare earlier this year. John checked up on Limbaugh to see how he was doing, and from there, a friendship formed.
"As Elton John explained it to the 400 or so people there, he and Rush have kept up a fairly regular e-mail exchange," Levin said on his show Tuesday.
He called John "gracious and superb," and mentioned the heat John is receiving from the Left for his relationship with Limbaugh.

Dang good 1!

Rush himself has never been a strident “homophobe” in the first place. His complaints have always centered on the radical activists claiming to represent “gays”, like his taunts at “femin-nazis” and “gay” activists who bash any and everything Catholic.
And, in a new (& very good and honest) Rush Biography that has just recently been published, it talks - very briefly - about one of Rush’s early mentors in the radio broadcast business (& still long time friend) was and is “gay”.
So, it does not surprise me that Rush did NOT spurn Elton’s outreach at friendship.
Thank you for speaking sense on a topic that seems to bring out the worst in us
I would be thrilled if she were interested. She’s an amazing gal.
Maybe she ain’t your type, but that’s ok. More for the rest of us.
You're confusing me with Huck.
John just claimed Jesus Christ was a homosexual in February.
Jesus was the one said not to cast one's pearls before swine. Is a man that accused Jesus of being a homosexual, as John did, swine?
They repented.
He drove the moneychangers out of the temple with a whip and told pharisees they were of their father, the devil.
It's hard imagining Jesus feeling much differently about someone that seeks to pervert His life by accusing him of being homosexual as Elton John did. How much more vile can a man be?
That's so bizarre...I assume you're joking?
Hank
nope...it’s true.
I could really use a link to any such statements by McCain.
If you find any, please forward them to me.
I’ve tried to find some, and haven’t been successful. I would find it hard to believe he could have said something like that without the media and people here being privy to it.
Don’t take this as a slam, I’m just trying to verify what you’ve said. If I can, I’m going to make sure it’s broadly known.
From your follow-up comments I realized I attributed your report to the wrong John, Elton John not John McCain.
Please forgive me.
You know what, no matter what people support, they go to the ends of the earth to justify it. John is a real jerk to say that. To a lesser degree, some other people make some interesting defenses of things that are wrong, that they don’t want to deal with as well.
I agree with you that Elton’s comments do condemn him. Unfortunate but true.
Thank you.
To the degree that the Holy Spirit would be withdrawn from a man like Elton John, I would imagine that humans should do the same. How we determine that is unclear.
I believe that the Holy Spirit works on people until they die, however, I do believe people can be so set in their ways that the Holy Spirit is no longer listened to at all, and does not live within them to the degree It would like to.
How we conduct ourselves under these circumstances is certainly a topic for some serious conversation.
One the one hand, Rush seems to lend credibility to John, but on the other hand, he also reaches out to the sinner and treats him with respect. Could John and Rush discuss certainly matters that it would be difficult for John to discuss with others that he respected? I have no way of knowing.
I don’t think a snap condemnation of Rush is warranted. There is always the chance Rush could be the very person God intends to speak to John. I just don’t know.
Neither you or I agree with John’s lifestyle. We find it repulsive and unacceptable. I am curious what your take on what Rush should have done when John reached out to him.
Do you think he should have condemned John on the spot, and refused contact?
I don’t see that as very productive.
You should know that these are matters that aren’t completely settled in my own mind, so I’m not trying to give you a hard time here.
Later...
Not much more vile, I agree.
Look, the sinner on the cross didn’t repent until after he had committed the ultimate human sin, killing another human, in effect ending their life and freezing their chance at salvation right there, whether saved or not.
I will say though, that labeling the Savior a homosexual, even does that one better IMO.
Repentance is open to any of us who are still living IMO. If true conviction causes one to renounce their sin, I think God can see it and forgive.
I’m open to competing arguments.
Good for Elton John. Good for Rush.
What’s most telling is the reaction from their “constituencies”. While I would much prefer no one was ‘in your face’ about whatever one’s sexuality may be- it’s nice to see a couple of men gain wisdom as they age and form a friendship while behaving like gentlemen.
A delightful and refreshing change of pace.
