Rush Limbaugh and Sir Elton John's relationship started with problems. Heart problems, that is.
According to conservative talk radio host Mark Levin, a guest at Limbaugh's wedding last weekend, Limbaugh and John were staying at the same hotel in Hawaii when Limbaugh had his heart attack scare earlier this year. John checked up on Limbaugh to see how he was doing, and from there, a friendship formed.
"As Elton John explained it to the 400 or so people there, he and Rush have kept up a fairly regular e-mail exchange," Levin said on his show Tuesday.
He called John "gracious and superb," and mentioned the heat John is receiving from the Left for his relationship with Limbaugh.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth
TT
Well, see, there was this public restroom in the pharmacy, see...
I just threw up on my monitor AND keyboard.
I could not live with a person so filled with hate as serpenthead.
Imagine having your children exposed to that type of vitriol and blatant dishonesty.
Sorry, but I have NO respect for Matalin at all.
My wife and I have some good friends that are homosexuals. I don’t endorse their lifestyle, but they aren’t flaming, and they are good people other than that.
That doesn’t stop my concern for their salvation, but they are old enough to know the landscape.
When Prop 209 was on the ballot one of them raised the issue with regard to someone who had shoved it in their face, and a friendship was lost over it. I mentioned that I didn’t think homosexual marriage should be recognized as the same as heterosexual marriage. I continued by saying that partners should be able to be at the bedside of their significant others, and they should enjoy community property rights.
We’re still friends.
I think it was very nice of Elton to reach out to Rush. I think it speaks well of Rush to have reciprocated and started up a friendship.
I heard John say something the other day that caused me some contemplation. He said that he had changed over time, and that he wasn’t the same individual he had been years earlier. The term dangerous behavior came up, and I think John has seen at least a part of the error of his ways.
I am under no illusion to the lifestyle John still leads, but it’s his life.
It’s his judgment day that looms. Mine too. And I’m going to have my own things to answer for.
Very well said, Gypsy!
It can be very frustrating trying to make sense of the liberal point of view, but if nothing else, I find libs to be a great source of amusement.
The elephant in the room here is that world class conservatives are about the least bigoted people around. They can mix with any law abiding citizen on a social level just fine, but they refuse to lie or shut up if the leftie demands they do so.
It's entirely up to the lefties, if they tolerate the free speech from others that they demand for themselves, many will make good and lasting friendships.
Hmmm, perhaps the flaming tiny dancer is hitting on Rush?
I have gay kin whom I love as family, and a number of gay friends because of the nature of my wife's work.
I think most conservatives aren't incapable of seeing past such differences and accepting others as human being worthy of friendship on an individual basis.
I believe its much harder for gays to reciprocate in today's social environment, however. So I give old Elton the most credit in this case. He's supposedly really catching h*ll.
Not surprising. I don’t think any man of real quality would date Ann Coulter.
Is it not possible for men to share friendship without implied sexual interest?
Hit me like that too.
LLS
I have a friend that hung (pun intended) around the Playboy Mansion when Maher was there a lot. Allow me to use a line from one of Elton John's songs and say that accroding to my friend Maher was described by his female conquests as a "tiny dancer" if you know what I mean (wink wink nod nod).
In short, the Church can’t tell HIM what to do.!
I give him credit where credit is due too, but I’ll bet Rush has gotten an e-mail or two (hundred thousand) over this too. ;-)
Some of my fellow Christians can be pretty hard on some issues, and this is one of them. I recognize where they are coming from, but Jesus didn’t shun the sinner. Heck, He came to die for them.
Where would I be if He didn’t.
Now, Scripture does say “From such, turn away.” What does that mean then?
Most of my friends and family are liberals; sometimes, we just have to avoid talking about politics. One co-worker that I’m pretty close to was also a big 0bama fan which made for some interesting problems trying to work together in fall ‘08.
Earlier this year, she blurts out, “I don’t like 0bama anymore.” And before I even can ask why, she says, “Don’t say it!! Just don’t say anything!!!”
Yes! And, I assume that most of us here do have flaming, liberal friends. I certainly do..And, I love them, every one, and they love me. Over time, I can see their views changing, too.
