If Congress declares martial law - and this democratic Congress could easily do that - then the president can legally issue orders to enforce that martial law.

There would be nothing illegal about it.

So you’re saying that droves of military people would disobey the orders lawfully given through the chain of command to do what is lawful during martial law?

Because that is what it would mean. The legality of the orders cannot be questioned. That’s what the military is telling Lt Col Lakin, based on what they told Michael New before that. Whether or not you agree with Lakin or New on the legality of the orders, make no mistake that the military decisions were that THE LEGALITY OF THE ORDERS COULD NOT BE QUESTIONED.

Every military man and woman needs to be soul-searching right now, because the military leadership has made it abundantly clear that the military will NEVER go against a president’s orders. They have no mechanism that would ever allow the legality of the orders to even be BROUGHT UP IN A LEGITIMATE PROCEEDING.

I saw the Russian Politburo pull this crap in 1991 and all that it did was get they themselves lined up against a wall and shot by the very military they legally ordered to enforce martial law. Remember these guys were Soviet Communists and believe me our military has far many more doubts against this government. A large number of our soldiers have made up their mind are going around today saying uphold and defend the Constition against all enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC. The new book “The Manchurian President” NY Times bestseller is very popular with the Armed Services.
