Rumors of a Coup

We've been hearing a lot of comments recently about a national coup d'etat scheduled for sometime in late summer or early fall and designed to circumvent the coming Democrat debacle in the 2010 elections.

This is an example of political gothic of a type that I tend to overlook. But my interest was piqued by the fact that it has been mentioned several dozen times in the comment threads of essays of mine in recent weeks. I've had a little difficulty grasping exactly how such a thing would work, so I've spent the last few days puzzling it out.

The contention is that at some point before the upcoming November elections, an "incident" of some violent but unknown nature will occur that will provide Obama with the opportunity to declare "martial law" across the country, which will involve the "cancellation" or "postponement" of the elections. This will enable the Obama dictatorship to take off its humanist mask and put its true agenda into play, part of which involves sending JRD up to Prudhoe Bay to feed moss to the caribou for the next ten years.

Breaking this thesis into its component parts, we find

Nothing will happen this fall except some democrats (less than we hope for) will lose their jobs. Obama would never pull a stunt like martial law just to save the skins of a few congress critters.

If we ever find ourselves in this situation it would be in the fall of 2012, when his own power is on the line.

I just cannot imagine the guys I know in the senior ranks of the military ordering tanks onto the streets of the US.

Months before every General Election this same “The President is going to suspend elections” story gets recirculated. Usually it comes from the left. Bush was going to declare martial law and suspend the 2004 and later the 2008 elections. But it look like the Right has their own share of people that will believe anything.

Something of 9-11 or larger magnitude could pose as an excuse.

People don’t know it, but martial law was declared back when the financial collapse happened so that Congress could pass laws without using the normal procedures.

With healthcare reform, they did the same thing, except they didn’t bother to declare martial law first. This administration’s base/normal setting is what the Bush administration’s “martial law” was - as far as passing laws, anyway.

The dems project. What they say the conservatives are going to do is what they’re planning to do and then blame the conservatives. All the crap about Tea Partiers being violent, and the preparations for riots because of the swine flu... it’s projection.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I would definitely NOT put anything like this past this current government, media, and law enforcement system.

I do agree with the poster who said that it’s probably more likely to be a financial collapse that will be used to create anarchy and eventual martial law.

There’s plenty going on in Korea and the Middle East to add fuel to the fire also - especially since Iran may already have nukes. An EMP attack could easily destroy both “the Great Satan” and “the little Satan” - US and Israel. With the electronic voting systems, it would DEFINITELY make elections impossible.

So we’re vulnerable in about a dozen different ways. And because Obama is so incompetent he could even be HELPING these things to happen to destroy America and nobody could tell the difference from just his normal stupidity. Gives him plausible deniability.

If we don’t get this guy out of office NOW and find a way to hold government, media, and law enforcement accountable, all bets are off.

In our system, you can't do it unless the Constitution sez so.

I don't really expect a coup, nor martial law, and I do remember the same sorts of worries as Clinton was leaving office.

However, to the statists, the Constitution is a meaningless piece of unreadable parchment behind tinted glass in an old building. Despite the oaths of office of all Federal office holders (and military officers), they have 'interpreted' the Constitution into irrelevance.

During 'emergencies', suspension of explicit Constitutional provisions - rights - has been done by Presidential fiat before. And by a president who is revered as one of our 'great' presidents . . . Abraham Lincoln. He suspended habeas corpus by edict.

None of the serving officers turned their troops toward DC. Armed citizens did not take up their weapons and march on Washington. We, the People, just accepted it.

Do I think Obama could get away with something similar, particularly with something that is not explicit in the Constitution - the right to vote? If someone sets off a nuke in an American city a few days before the election, could you imagine him saying that the vote needs to be delayed "for a short time, until we can be sure that 'radical extremists' won't attempt to set off bombs in polling places, and ensure that all votes are counted, including in those areas affected by the attack"?

Frankly, no. I don't think he could get away with delaying the vote, nor declaring it invalid for some reason.

But the real question is whether he thinks he could get away with it. And if we have learned anything from his time in office, there is no limit to what he thinks he can get away with.

I still don't think he'll try anything, but the fears of those who think he might are not silly or paranoid.

LISTEN UP TAXPAYERS Obama/Rahm/Axelrod/Jarrett, and the rest of the "progressive" nutjobs are purposefully antagonizing large groups in middle America, goading us into civil unrest. This would give them an excuse to declare Martial Law. Obama gave ACORN $$billions to form Civilian Security reeducation camps.

Americans need to be very vigilant: Obama and his loathsome WH staff are very calculated in their use of power. As dissent among the populace grows, they are capable of plotting staged events to boost their advantage.

If these arch-manipulators perceive there isn’t measurable fear in the hearts of the people, they will create that fear to solidify their power. They know people will succumb to fear, and will relinquish their God-given liberties when they are fearful.

THE COCKEYED WORLD OF OBAMA/INCOMPETANO: A VERY DISTURBING GOVT MINDSET Obama/Incompetano pulled out all the stops to go after American "extremists" few months back but seem "unable" to go after bombers and terrorists.

OHAHA/DHS PROFILES AMERICANS--HATRED OF AMERICANS SPEWS FORTH No more proof is needed than Obama/Incompetano's profiling Americans as “rightwing extremists.”

On April 7, 2009, their hatred of Americans spewed full force as DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis sent out a nationwide alert to US L/E to act against "evil" conservatives. DHS identified “rightwing extremists” as a "danger" and defined “rightwing extremists” in a footnote, as follows.

OBAMA/INCOMPETANO ORDER L/E TO SUPPRESS AND DESTROY AMERICANS. EXCERPT DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis to L/E: "Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

DHS later said that the report was not an attempt to squash First Amendment Rights for conservatives----only "hate groups"---- but, there was NO attempt to exempt anyone from these broad generalizations. Obama/Incompetano's report paints EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN CONSERVATISM as "suspect."

This is indicative of a very disturbing government mindset. Obama/Incompetano's documented hatred of Americans, and their orders to L/E to surveil and supress Americans......contrasts sharply with their kid glove handling of drug lords, savages, and terrorists bent on violence and destruction.

The war veterans, many of whom had been out of work since the beginning of the Great Depression, sought immediate cash payment of Service Certificates granted to them eight years earlier via the Adjusted Service Certificate Law of 1924. Each Service Certificate, issued to a qualified veteran soldier, bore a face value equal to the soldier's promised payment, plus compound interest. The problem was that the certificates (like bonds), matured twenty years from the date of original issuance, thus, under extant law, the Service Certificates could not be redeemed until 1945.

On July 28, U.S. Attorney General Mitchell ordered the veterans removed from all government property. Washington police met with resistance, shots were fired and two veterans were killed. President Hoover then ordered the army to clear out the veterans. The infantry and cavalry were supported by six tanks, and commanded by Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur. Major, later President, Dwight D. Eisenhower was his liaison with Washington police, and Major George Patton led the cavalry. The Bonus Army, their wives and children were driven out with fixed bayonets and adamsite gas, an arsenical vomiting agent, and their shelters and belongings burned. Two more of the veterans, and an unknown number of babies and children, died (accounts range from one to "a number" of casualties).
