CHICAGO The onetime chief of staff for Rod Blagojevich is testifying that he and others in the former Illinois governor's inner circle including Blagojevich talked about how they could make money from state actions.
Alonzo Monk says he, fundraisers Tony Rezko and Christopher Kelly and the governor referred to themselves as "one, two, three, four." And he says the first person to talk to him about making money from state actions was Kelly, who was found dead last year in what police say was a suicide.
Monk has pleaded guilty in the case and is testifying in the hopes of getting a lighter sentence.

Suicide? Like 9 shots to the head, and a six-gun was found in his hand? That kind of suicide?
Liar. I heard directly from the ex Gov and his wife that all they did was try and serve the people...they have SACRIFICED! And are pure as the driven snow. People can’t LIE on reality TV ya know.
Just another political whore like Spitzer and all the others
1, 2, 3 and 4! No doubt taking their cue from the XYZ affair.
“The birth of a conspiracy to profit from Rod Blagojevich’s position came as early as 2003 when the then-governor met with three close advisers to discuss how to make money and divvy up the spoils,”
There’s a reason machine politics is also called the “spoils” system. Not a whole lot different than the mentality of Attila the Hun and his compadres except there presumably was more raping to accompany the pillaging back in his days.
Coroner's verdict was "Death by the visitation of God..."

Friend to testify in bribery trial of ex-Illinois governor

CHICAGO (AFP) Testimony Wednesday from a friend of an ousted Illinois governor was expected to bolster prosecutors’ contention that the flamboyant former politician tried to sell off President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat.
Rod Blagojevich, 53, is on trial here facing 24 charges of corruption, racketeering, bribery and fraud stemming from his efforts in the fall of 2008 to trade Obama’s vacant US Senate seat for campaign cash or a new job.
On the second day of the trial, jurors were to hear from Lon Monk, one of Blagojevich’s closest friends and a former law school associate.
Prosecutors on Tuesday provided a motive for Blagojevich’s alleged corruption, showing jurors a chart illustrating former governor’s declining income, which had plunged by 40 percent in recent years.
And they said wiretaps of Blagojevich trying to barter away Obama’s seat would leave no doubt about the politician’s guilt.
“You will hear him say in vivid terms how valuable this Senate seat was to him,” prosecutor Carrie Hamilton said in her opening remarks.
Hamilton gave a tantalizing teaser of expletive-laden, secret FBI recordings, quoting Blagojevich as saying: “I’ve got this thing and it’s fucking golden... I’m not just gonna give it up for fucking nothing.”
But Blagojevich’s attorney, Sam Adam, ridiculed the prosecution’s case.
“There’s nothing wrong with (trading) a political position for a political position,” Adam told a packed courtroom.

It very telling that a right ranking Democrat politician makes a drummer from a second rate ‘80s rock band look like a genius on reality T.V.
The one they are taking the fall for... or will they?
