Meg Whitman, the billionaire former eBay chief executive who poured tens of millions of her own fortune into her first-time bid for political office, easily won the Republican primary for California governor Tuesday, advancing to face a Democratic icon, former two-term Gov. Jerry Brown.

What does that have to do with Whitman? She made her $ through eBay.

No, I’m standing tall with Conservative conviction. Sorry that seems so far away from you.

I’m sorry, I must be drunk. Did I read your post correctly to say that Jerry Brown is less left wing than Poizner?

Did I read that correctly?

and p.s... you don’t start a company like that from the ground up and make a fortune by being stupid... McCain is a crook IMHO, but thought Whitman isn’t as conservative as I prefer, if she was she would be unelectable in California.

he was lucky to be on the ticket that year.
his opponent did not have any money or a famous name.

Actually, you are right. If California defaults on its debt, it would be good to have Brown at the helm. I guess I can take that consolation from the inevitable Brown victory.

There are 4 registered Democrats for every 3 registered Republicans.

Also, voters are idiots for the most part. A Republican is governor of California during a massive economic downturn. That is all the voters are going to see. They will get rid of the incumbent Republican to be replaced with the Democrat challenger.

Brown is a lock for the California governorship unless Whitman can find the overwhelming money to sink him on some non-economic issue. I don’t know if she can find that kind of dirt on him.

Despite this: http://www.hotr.us/data/mccainagain.html Whitman signed on as his finance chairman in 2008.

She claims to be against amnesty, but so did McCain.
She claims she’s against illegal aliens staying here, but then so does McCain now.
She says she’ll seal the border, and so does McCain.
She says she’ll send the illegals back to Mexico. I don’t think Johnny has signed on to that yet.

None of this passed the sniff test for either of them as late as 19 months ago.

That is part of why I think she’s a liar. It all goes back to Johnny Boy one way or tother. Are you aware Johnny Boy met with Brown within 24 hours of him being elected to the Senate?

McCain taints everything he touches, and yet my good friends here, many of them suffer from amnesia when it comes to John.

I just don’t understand folks who slam the left for doing things, but when our fair haired Senator from the Great State of Arizona does it, it’s no problem at all.

This comes off as a bad Twilight Zone script.

California is flat doomed. The type of voters who demands responsible government are in mass exodus out of the state, along with their middle class and upper middle class incomes. The remaining voters are increasingly dumbed down or entitlement minded.

California is doomed. It is over. Prop 14 is the final nail.

Wouldn't dispute you for the world.

Sure hope a lot of your state's citizens learn how to 'go Galt', and fairly quickly.

Well, you make a good point.

Still, I may have to shoot myself. My president is a radical communist Muslim and my Governor will be a radical communist utopian hippie.

Gee, this is just great.

AC, I think Whitman deserves some credit there, but I’m not convinced the credit is anywhere near as large as what she claims. She didn’t do this single-handedly. She had good staff too. How much was their contribution and how much was hers is up to debate.

She didn’t vote for 28 years. Just how informed can a person like that really be? She spent three decades ignoring politics, but now wants to run the eighth largest economy in the world. And then guess what she’ll want.

We’re not just talking about a RINO term in California. We’re talking about someone who will suck all the oxygen out of the room nationally when she runs for President.

Oh joy, another damned RINO for president.

You don’t think like a liberal democrat. What you see as “bad”, they see as “good”. They LOVE Governor Moonbeam and can’t get enough of him. Why do you think the man has never been out of office since he first won the governorship.

Has he ever lost an election? The Democrats love him.
