Meg Whitman, the billionaire former eBay chief executive who poured tens of millions of her own fortune into her first-time bid for political office, easily won the Republican primary for California governor Tuesday, advancing to face a Democratic icon, former two-term Gov. Jerry Brown.

I don’t disagree one iota with your evaluation of Whitman, except to the extent that Brown will give away the farm to California employee unions, jack taxes through the roof, and rubber stamp everything the socialist legislature passes.

Do you REALLY think Whitman would accept the Global Warming energy reduction demands in California that Governor Moonbeam is salivating over? You haven’t seen extreme green EnviroFreak laws until you’ve seen what the California legislature passes with Brown’s gleeful signature.

Sorry, but unlike your conservative idealism that gives us a radical communist Muslim to run the nation, I do vote lesser of evils to prevent severe evil from triumphing.

I don’t relish that. I wish I had a true conservative choice. I don’t have that. I have a deep RINO who will do some damage to California or a radical communist envirofreak like Brown who will absolutely destroy California.

I am very sorry people like you are going to guarantee his easy election.

Meg follows that elite crowd of power hungry megalomaniacs trying to buy California... Arnie, Michael Huffington, Dem Al Checchi(sp?).

Only the Austrian was able to use his celebrity image.

You know what, I should just calm down regarding Prop 14.

We’ll have two Democrats running for Governor this year, so what’s the difference.

We’ll have two Democrats running for Senator too.

Same ole same ole...

“So its official that conservatism is over in CA.

Buh Bye Calipornia”

It was official a long time before this primary election. If you want to be where a conservative wins the GENERAL election, you’ll have to move out of lala land. Or you can be delusional.

Prove to me Gerry Brown (his LEGAL name is Edmund G-is-for-Gerald Brown and I damn well spell it that way even if he uses “Jerry”) is NOT as liberal as he used to be.

Prove it. Prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt he is not as liberal as he use to be.

They couldn’t pay me enough money to be the governor of that state. Why anyone would pay for the privilege is beyond me.

The legislature could prevent a crash of the California economy with 15% across the board cuts in every program.

AC, I’m not saying it was easy, but what has running an internet business got to do with being Governor of California. You could say Schwarzenegger was brilliant too because he built himself an empire. That wasn’t easy. So how did that work out for us when he became governor.

Like it or not, some businesses go postal without as much brilliant leadership as brilliant timing, and that doesn’t necessarily mean that the leadership was all that brilliant, or that Whitman was actually the driving force.

She got paid in stock options in all likelihood and that stock went through the roof. Great. Did it all happen because Meg Whitman was at the helm? I remain unconvinced.

And as for her buying the election, that doesn’t really impress me.

You prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Poizner isn’t as leftwing as he was 6 years ago when he supported Kerry and Gore, and had Richard Clarke speak about how evil the war on terror was, and wanted to repeal Prop 13, and raise taxes to 90%.

I've lived in CA for 53 years and voting here has become defeating evil instead of championing conservativism at the ballot box. Whitman is a business woman...Brown is a lifetime loony liberal political hack. That is the choice here. People need to sober up from their conservative idealism and accept that fact.

Well, it is close — and it seems that more liberal areas have reported than the more conservative counties.

It ain’t over til it’s over!

On a good note — Mimi Walters wins! (she was unopposed, lol)

I am not the reason John McCain was selected to become our nominee in 2008. By the time I could vote for Hunter, McCain had almost attained the numbers he needed to be the nominee.

McCain waged a poor campaign. He refused to take Obama on, concerning many important issues. As I said he even went so far as to say we had nothing to fear from Obama being president, and he had also stated he respected the Democrats and their fine ideals in the year before the election.

So..., don’t try to pin McCain’s loss one me. McCain lost because he saw himself little different than Obama. He was as convinced as any leftist that an Obama win would be historic, and I’m not convinced at all he wanted to prevent that.

You put up a dip stick Leftist, and then try to get folks to go for the Leftist lite, and look what you get, the real deal. Who knew?

Yeah and with Moonbeam at the helm that will NEVER happen. Whitman? Who knows...

Well, we’ve had our fill of politicians who inherited their money or their seat, personally I have no problem with a person using their brain to become a billionaire and I think if a person is smart enough to do that they can probably do a better job than a body-builder in running the state.
