Marijuana is causing America to be more and more dysfunctional. Its time we recognize that we have a problem.

There is nothing conservative about smoking pot. Marijuana itself is an icon of the 60’s. It makes many people dependent in the long term while creating a dysfunctional society.

There is nothing conservative about smoking pot. And there's nothing conservative about abusing the Commerce Clause. But you don't seem to want people to know that.

There’s thousands of groups promoting marijuana use without respectfully presenting the dangers. There’s only a few of me.
Adolescents always increases their use of harmful drugs when they perceive no risk of using. Why would you have a problem with that?

I’m not an adolescent, and the one-sided case you want to make is an exercise in half-truth. I don’t need to be lied to for my own good, by you or anyone else.

Say what you will, and I'll just add this. Since job entry drug testing in the oilfield, it has become a much safer place to work. OK, I'll go along with that- not as many paper-cuts & smashed toes. But tell me this- how is that Deepwater Horizon thingie workin out for the Oil Biz?
Before ya go labeling me a Head, I'm not ,yet, but if my arthritis keeps getting worse my retirement years may be very laid-back.

You’re like the politicians that promised a “drug free America”, and never gave a moment’s thought to what it would take to actually make that happen and what the consequences would be.

With rights comes responsibility. I can't stop people from smoking pot, picking up a drink or abusing other drugs but I can explain the consequences.
The DEA has stated that 60% of all marijuana in this country is brought across the border from Mexican gangs.
Do people even know what chemicals are in the foreign pot they're smoking?
A good majority of home grown marijuana is grown from seeds brought into America from BC Canada with a higher THC content.
If people knew more about the war on drugs they would realize that much more is going on behind the scenes.

I know when I post this type of information I am at serious risk at debating with peoples swollen Mesolimbic reward system.
The debate becomes an exercise in futility.

I agree people need to know what's going on.
I just don't believe they're going to make an informed decision given nothing but what the government bureaucrats and people like the RWJF want to tell them.
Do you know the difference between education and indoctrination? Most people do, and resent it when someone tries to force feed them propaganda, and tell them it's an education.

But tell me this- how is that Deepwater Horizon thingie workin out for the Oil Biz?Maybe you should ask the eleven guys who haven't made it home yet.
Or the tens of thousands who are going to be out of work because of the non-drug tested politicians who had a media (also not drug-tested) driven kneejerk reaction to a terrible accident.
Or maybe you should ask the tens of thousands more who are going to be wishing in one hand while their jobs teeter on the brink and their businesses go under because the money isn't there to keep them alive, because someone didn't make that money offshore.
I am sure the rig would have been so much better off with everyone on board stoned. (/s, as if!)
It is an already inherently dangerous industry without having some twit who is not in full posession of their mental faculties making a mess of things, otherwise such incidents might be more common industry wide.

I don't feel the need to so coy.
What's obvious is that a drugged America is a stupid America.
So the next time some “conservative” who wants to legalize drugs bemoans the direction the country is going, morally, politically, financially, whatever, he should ask what effect hundreds of tons of drugs going into the body eclectic has on its cognitive abilities.

Marijuana: The Myths Are Killing Us http://www.justice.gov/dea/pubs/pressrel/pr042605p.html
LOL. One thing drug warriors have in common with environmentalists is that everthing that comes out of their mouth is a lie.
Federal and state governments have 0 credibility when it comes to the issue of marijuana.
One of the reasons I do not have a problem with pot smokers breaking the law is that the laws are based on lies and written by liars, the same as environmental laws.
To: count-your-change
Only about 17% of Americans use drugs regularly. Anyone who would lay the country’s problems at that doorstep isn’t engaging much of their cognitive functioning.

Buckley Kicks Rangles ass...and whole heartedly disagrees with you...That is worth watching no matter what subject they were discussing. I'll give Rangel this; he put up a better debate than anyone on this thread has. He at least recognizes that when confronted with a logical challenge he can't get by by ignoring it. But in the end it's still all filibuster with bluster.
