Ms. Thomas expressed mild regret for her remarks, saying they do not reflect her "heartfelt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance." She should have heeded her own counsel. Ms. Thomas' comments embodied contempt and intolerance. They were a stark message of hatred from the dean of the White House Press corps, the kind of toxic speech that disqualifies someone from a position of public trust. She now enters her long-overdue retirement, tainting a half-century of White House reporting with the memory of a vile 30-second rant.

It doesn't happen often as it should but it's nice to see a liberal icon hoisted on their own petard. After all, they are the ones that created the "politically correct" atmosphere that ruined the career of many a conservative for tossing out some ill-thought out offhand remark or making an off-color joke or some other verbal gaffe.

Now usually when it's a liberal guilty of the above, liberals will circle the wagon and protect their own (while running the conservative out of town on a rail). But every now and then, one of their own will say something so poisonous and hateful that they have no choice but kick them to the curb.

Well this is one of those times and with respect to this anti-semitic gasbag, it's long overdue.

I find it one of those "poetic justice has been served" moments, just like with Dan Rather.

When jounalists and reporters go out of their way to shape news based on their own political agenda and opinions, throwing the concept of unbaised journalistic integrity out the window, while always hiding behind the 1st admendment the way terrorists use children as human shields, it tarnishes the press as a whole.

Many of them build long and successful careers using this formula without ever having to be judged for their abuses, but once and while, the Dan Rathers and Helen Thomases of this industry get caught red handed and its too late in their careers to get a pass.

Helen Thomas abused the powers of her job for decades and the liberal media did everything they could to rally around her and keep her sitting there front row infront of the president and press secretarys to push their agenda. It's with great poetic justice that her career ends like this and embarrasses their industry.
