The news of CNN’s hiding the results of its own poll on the public’s feelings about Obamacare wasn’t surprising. As a general rule poll results showing bad news for Democrats are smothered until they can no longer be suppressed or become irrelevant.
After sitting on it for weeks CNN finally released the results of its survey on Obamacare. What they were holding back was a finding of 56/ 43 opposition to the bill. The bias of CNN is clearly visible because it released some of the results, but held back this Obamacare bad news.
Other questions
The one poll question that holds the most significance for politicians of both parties is “Is American on the right track or wrong track?”
When the answer comes out lopsided toward “wrong track” the party in power is in trouble and the party out of power sees victory coming in the next election.
The latest measure of public sentiment on the direction our country is heading indicates trouble for Congressional Democrats. The latest Daily Kos poll conducted by Research 2000 reveals that “wrong direction” leads 59/39 the highest spread since mid march.
Other polling companies found even higher “wrong track” percentages. CBS News found 61% answering this way and Pew found 64% thought we are on the “wrong track.”
The question of what to do about the illegal alien problem is another issue promising to have a great influence on the outcome of November’s elections.
A recent Quinnipiac poll found 85% of us think illegal immigration is at least somewhat serious with 59% saying it is a very serious problem. The same survey found 66% want stricter enforcement. By 51/31 the new Arizona law is approved and 76% say boycotting Arizona is a bad idea.

If they do that, the GOP will be as doomed as the Democrats, leaving the door open for a new third political party to emerge.
Even the GOP leadership is smart enough to figure that one out. They’ll come to their senses soon, they know how to read polls too.
BTW, the fact that CNN squashed unfavorable polls - not really a surprise, is it? I’m also willing to bet they’ve already done a poll about homosexuals in the military that came back overwhelmingly negative - which is why you won’t hear about it, either.
The right track/wrong track question is far too vague to be useful. Anyone who isn’t satisfied with, for example, how far left the government has taken the country will answer “wrong track”, but that includes not only conservatives who think things have gone too far, but hard leftists who think things haven’t gone far enough. You almost always get a “wrong track” majority.
This question is only of use to an organization with an agenda, looking for an excuse to put pressure on the population.
No they're not. They fully expect to co-opt the conservative movement and convince voters that RINOs really do believe in Tea Party values. McCain's "conversion" is a perfect example. Throw in people like Palin supporting the establishment RINOs and they just might pull it off.
I disagree. If the GOP reaches across the aisle in its usual defeatist fashion, it will indeed be as doomed as the Democrats. But by then it will be too late, and our whole nation will be doomed by the treason of some and the naivete of many. The more I see, the more I believe that this is what many in both parties really want to begin with. A New Order, with America as a stepping stone to the diabolical goal of our elites.

At this point that I find it quite plausible to believe that at least some ‘Republican’ politicians are plants who got where they are with the stealth support of forces on the left. I know, tin foil hat and all..
The “Democrats” in power in Washington DC are not Democrats. They are Social Communists. No more shilly shalling around, folks. Let’s call a spade a spade! Communism is the antithesis of an American Republic. So it all boils down to what you want - slavery or freedom. Take your pick.
You can be sure that quite a few Obama voters (Democrats, Indies and Republicans alike because there were plenty of Republicans who voted for him) are not happy with Democrat leadership. The real question is are they ready to jump into Republicans’ laps in November? Currently, my hunch is no - not yet. They are in a “let’s wait and see” pattern and maybe we’ll give them more time to get it right. The empirical evidence I have to support my hunch is what happened in PA-12. Polls showed that a majority of voters there were unhappy with the Obama agenda and the economy and they toyed with the idea of defecting to Burns (R), but in the end they ran back to what they thought was safe.
Those who are high spirited will change direction when they don’t like the way things are going, but those who are weak and dependent (a lot of seasoned citizens and unemployed in PA-12) do not have the confidence to do that. They are like abused spouses who keep going back because it’s the only thing they know and at least he pays the rent. But at some point, if they get angry enough, even the abused spouses will leave. We’re far from that point.
And face it, there is still a bad taste in many people’s mouths over Bush as demonized as he was by Democrats - who are still playing the same fiddle.
Republicans might get the high spirited ones but they need more to make big gains.
