“promised to provide Carradine the best possible amenities and an assistant to help him navigate Bangkok but left him behind for dinner on the night before the actor was found dead.”
‘best possible amenities’=hooker? Is that what she’s saying?
Protect him from his ultra secret auto-erotic asphyxiation in the privacy of his Bangkok hotel suite?
The wife was probably the only person to know the truth. The only party who is deserving of damages is the film company for the wife’s refusal to inform them of hubby’s secret perversions.
How the he!! can you protect someone from themselves?
How would a court in L.A. have jurisdiction in this case?
Some people have no shame.
She doesn’t care about her husband.
All she wants is the $$$$$.
I mean didn’t he die about 2 years ago?
Why now, all of the sudden?
I'm guessing it's the jurisdiction in which the contract was bound, and it sounds essentially like a breach of contract suit.
wh...wha...what...WHAT???
You can’t protect people from themselves.
Can't think of a law that would be much good for someone who is dead.
He was a grown (elderly) man, did he really need a babysitter?
His widow is just opening up this whole thing for even more ugly details to come out, if the accounts to date are any measure. She must be desperate, hoping for a “Hail Mary” moment. Other than that, who knows.
I agree. I can forgive Carradine for being a perv. The less I know about it the better.
court in LA would have jurisdiction because that is probably where the oontract was made
Apparently. But even so he was old enough to hire one if he wanted one.
Apparently the assistant just ASSUMED that Carradine already knew how to tie himself in a closet and masturbate without strangling. Clearly, the assistant was wrong.
Could there possibly be a more clearcut case of liability?
The widow and her attorney can proudly hold their heads high, confident they are raising the level of legal discourse in the nation.
Ya think ya oughta remember it? *hello* YOU don't know the "truth" any more than I do.
I'm close to some who knew members of the Carradine family well. The rudeness and callousness the folks in that family have to suffer over a human failing is sanctimonious to say the least. Stick to your own -- I'm sure you move in circles where everyone is very nearly perfect with only the most minor of human failings. Or would you want people to behave like you do here if you had a similar situation with a beloved brother who possibly had a secret human failing.
David Carridine was an actor who by all reports lived a decent enough life, comes from a pretty decent family of well-liked nice guys, and in my lifetime, has give me some measure of happy enjoyment in the characters he's played in TV and movies, from the camp Kung Fu, which always advanced pretty good values, to "Last Stand at Saber River." I have ZERO to complain about regarding Carradine.
In fact, I feel compelled to whisper a thanks to God for including Carradine and actors like him among my many simple blessings.
The gratuitous and lascivious speculation I see in some FReeper posts as to what happened to David Carradine in Bangkok, something ZERO your business or mine and of ZERO concern to either of us, is sad and disappointing.
Personally, I think you need a good swift kick in the ass.
