Right now, a massive cloud of hatching mayflies are hanging over the La Crosse region of Wisconsin. You can see it in bright pink, purple, and white on the map.

I’ve been in a mayfly hatch so dense I couldn’t see the shore of the lake. They were climbing in my nose and ears and up my shorts.
The trout wouldn’t bite a fly; they were stuffed.

Went through Oklahoma on my way home to NH from CA.
I thought that it was raining: wasn’t, just lots of bugs.
Hopefully they’ll eventually wash off the truck...
Seems to be an ongoing thing.

Until they get sick of them. I was at a lock at a dam a few years ago and there were so many of them on the walls and the ground that you couldn’t help from stepping on them.
