Boehner to Sir Paul: Apologize to the American People ( McCartney Bush Insult)
Human Events ^ | Friday, June 4, 2010 | Connie Hair

Sir Paul McCartney's cheap shot aimed at former President George W. Bush at a White House event on Wednesday has prompted House Minority Leader John Boehner to demand an apology from the Beatle.

McCartney literally gushed over President Obama throughout his East Room concert. “Getting this prize would just be good enough, but getting it from this president…” McCartney said letting his praise trail off as if there were vast volumes left unsaid.

After the last eight years, it’s great to have a President who knows what a library is,” McCartney quipped.

When did decorum go out of style?

“Like millions of other Americans, I have always had a good impression of Paul McCartney and thought of him as a classy guy, but I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of grace and respect he displayed at the White House,” Boehner told HUMAN EVENTS. “I hope he'll apologize to the American people for his conduct which demeaned him, the White House and President Obama.”

How is it at all proper to have foreign visitors come to our White House and use the platform to publicly disparage state legislative action (Arizona) and the previous US President -- and nothing, not even a burp, out of the current sitting POTUS or is arrogant staff?

Is there now a new standard of acceptable behavior, perhaps even urged by WH staff?
It is in a word, despicable.

The shocker for me was a crack about libraries, WHEN THE FIRST LADY WAS A LIBRARIAN!

My first thought, also. But it does reveal to us just how very little sirpaul really knows concerning what he's talking about.

I’m sure he has better things to do,and don’t you think you might get a bit upset if I questioned your intelligence on the national setting of the White House? Where do folks like you get their smarts from, Walmart?

Meredith Baxer and Michael Gross...

The closeted lesbian and the "I'm not a PBS douche, but I played one on TV 20 years ago" dude....A much coveted endorsement.

“When did decorum go out of style?”

When the American people elected a classless jackass for President.

The funny thing is that after the breakup of The Beatles, John was in an interview slamming Paul (one of many) and said that Paul’s problem was that he could never finish a song properly.

When you think about it this is very true, remember the end of the Abbey Road album? or Band on the Run?

I’m still a Beatles fan, but this guy is so far gone it’s not funny.

My first thought as well, along with the fact that he and Karl Rove??? were having a competition to see who could read the most books in a year. McCarthy's comment was totally ignorant and meant to appeal to an equally ignorant and nasty crowd.

I do not know about that, Paul McCartney and Wings had a few good songs and they put on a pretty good concert. But that was what around 1978-79? Since than he has done little if anything, Lennon's last album was better than anything McCartney has done since Wings. I heard that he bought back part of the music portfolio from Jackson, was that true? Either way he should be boycotted in Nashville.

Lennon and McCartney had a synergy that made the songs they wrote together better than what either could (normally) do by himself. And they provided unfettered criticism of each other’s contributions, no holds barred. For example, when McCartney came up with ‘World Without Love’, Lennon laughed at the song and mocked it, “Please lock me away...”. The Beatles never recorded it and Paul instead handed it off to Jane Asher’s brother (Peter and Gordon).

On the other side, when Lennon presented ‘Cold Turkey’ as the song he wanted for the next Beatles’ single, the horrified McCartney essentially said, “Are you nuts?” And so Lennon released the song as a solo project.

I believe some of those songs (Cold Turkey) are on the Beatles Anthology?

I have to agree. In the first place, nobody ever apologizes, and in the second place it just looks lame to demand it. Better to make a strong decisive critique of the statement and let it go at that.
