LOS ANGELES -- Cadmium has been discovered in the painted design on "Shrek"-themed drinking glasses being sold nationwide at McDonald's, forcing the burger giant to recall 12 million of the cheap U.S.-made collectibles while dramatically expanding contamination concerns about the toxic metal beyond imported children's jewelry.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the voluntary recall early Friday, warned consumers to immediately stop

lol..
You're suggesting zillion dollar mega corps like McDonald's don't do business with the Communist Chinese?
Even if they were made in China, which they weren’t,, you buy 12 million glasses, and don’t freakin’ test even one? Mac’s fault!
Yep....
But where were they decorated?
The Chinese seem to have a thing for cadmium.
Just wondering. Anybody have any idea what would happen if you place the recalled glasses in the dishwasher, with other dishes and cups? I was wondering if I just ruined my dishware.
That Shrek is so ugly he’d cut down any fatso’s Big Mac consumption to four a meal and Mrs. Shrek looks like she’s super sized her fires too many times herself.
Last time I ate their garbage, the workers were all illegal aliens, that couldn't even speak English. WTF is up with that?
People eat that tainted crap?
I don’t know redreno - I’d google cadmium. I’d almost bet if you reran the dishwasher with some vinegar or something those dishes would be fine.
Good luck :-)
TO GET CANCER
In Shrek the movie there is "Donkey". In the manufacturing of these glasses there is "Jackass".
From another report on this incident:
“All the recalled jewelry was made in China. The drinking glasses are the first American-made products to be recalled.
“Wolfson said the recalled glasses have “far less cadmium” than the recalled jewelry. He would not say how much cadmium leached from the glasses in tests, only that it was “slightly above the protective level currently being developed by the agency.”
“Arc is a French company with a plant in New Jersey; its origins as a glassmaker date to 1825. The company said that it has been making glasses for McDonald’s for 15 years and that levels of cadmium used in the enamel baked into the glass were within current federal safety guidelines.
“Biagi, Arc’s vice president of North American sales, said the company was surprised and confused when it got word of the recall Thursday night.
“Our feeling is these glasses are safe,” Biagi said.
“Biagi said the images on the glasses were made with enamel baked into them rather than paint, a common process. HE DID NOT IDENTIFY ARC’S SUPPLIERS.”

It’ll be interesting to see who the supplier was, if it is ever divulged.
Heard anything about this?
Yes, it will be!
