Watching Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk squirm before the Tribune editorial board on Thursday for embellishing his military record reminded me of something:
Watching Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias squirm in the same chair a few months ago, for his role in his family's controversial and now failed Broadway Bank.
So now both candidates in the race for President Barack Obama's old Senate seat have problems.
On Thursday it was Kirk, a U.S. Naval Reserve officer, doing the wriggling, and it wasn't pretty.

Another example of Republicans snatching defeat out of the hands of victory.
Kirk is simply running in the wrong state- folks in CT (and Massachusetts) don’t mind stolen valor
It’s a loose loose for conservatives in the Illinois Senate race. Either let a corrupt Obama/Dailey cronie win the seat or elect another Olympia Snowe RINO. I will have to hold my nose and vote for the RINO
I live in Rep. Kirk’s congressional district, and I’ve never voted for him. Since the choices were a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican, I skipped that section, of the ballot.
I’ll choose a U.S. Senate candidate in Oct. If I think that the race will be close, I’ll vote for Kirk, since I don’t want to help split the anti-Alexi vote, helping Alexi win, with 49% of the vote. If I think that the race won’t be close, I’ll vote for a conservative. The race will have seven or eight candidates.
I don’t know yet if I’ll cast a vote for senate. Don’t like Kirk and no way am I voting for Gilligan. I would rather see Gop in charge of the senate though.
I don’t know what it’s going to take for conservatives nationwide to start financing the campaigns of some good anti-RINO primary candidates. Pat Hughes would have made such a good senator if someone other than just Mark Levin and RemoveRINOs had gotten behind him. Oh yeah, and I think RedState got behind him. A week before the primary.
He’s still better than the Dim.
