Britain's gun laws need a complete overhaul
BRITAINS gun laws need a complete overhaul in the wake of the shootings, a military hero said yesterday.
Doug Beattie, who won the Military Cross in Afghanistan, called for gun owners to undergo an annual psychological assessment.
He said: There should be a fundamental look at the ownership of any weapons. I do not see any requirement for gun ownership except for specific businesses.
Sporting guns should be held in a centralised location, such as a sporting club. Anyone who does have a gun should have a psychological assessment each year.
In the UK, applicants for gun licences are interviewed by the police or firearms licensing authority before they acquire a weapon. Licence holders must provide doctors reports, disclose any criminal convictions and state why they want a gun, a process that takes about eight weeks.
It is not known if Derrick Bird held a licence. Nearly 600,000 people in the UK legally own a shotgun and 100,000 own a firearm a rifle or pistol.
However, firearms expert Michael Yardley, who gave evidence to the inquiry into the Dunblane shootings, said that the same numbers own a shotgun or firearm illegally.
Simon Clarke, of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, said the UKs licensing system was among the toughest in the world.
Yes, all knives of any kind and table forks and canes need to be outlawed. That way the outlaws with guns will have absolutley nothing to fear.
Just like the Soviet Union. People who want freedom are "mentally ill."

Sadly, this would be a major improvement over where I live on Long Island. The UK process sounds similar, but our wait here is around 6 months. (Howver, the gang members down the street can get their guns in record time...)
I choose door # 2.
Hey, I have that same towel, bath size.

Of course since he's a military man and opposed to his fellow britans being free, he'll be lauded by the usual suspects as they use him to advance the socialist wet dream of completely disarmed subjects under absolute rule by their betters.
The man needs to be placed in a situation where he faces losing everything he holds dear all for the lack of a weapon to defend it. Then the fool might start thinking clearly.
Exactly.
He is one goofy bastard!
I suspect the same ad would cause the average hoplophobe Brit or liberal American to suffer recurring night terrors. For them, it's bad enough to suggest that young boys might benefit from owning and using firearms. But the last panel--making a living crow their target--well, that's downright satanic.
Meanwhile the fatherless amoral brood of failed liberal policies rules the inner cities and engages in nonstop murder and mayhem the police are powerless to stop.
They tried that. That's what Lexington and Concorde were all about.
Didn't turn out well for them that time either.
Brits were enslaved a very long time ago...when their right to keep and bear arms was taken away. And now the left keeps on going. No wonder Islamic nuts can take over the country. Defenseless people are VERY easy prey.

They sure do. They need to remove all the regulations on gun ownership, and begin importing guns immediately. If this guy had done this in the US, there would have have been a great likelihood that he would have been stopped by an armed citizen someplace along the line. Unless of course, he did it in some liberal “gun-free” state....
Good fatherly advice, also applicable to others subjects...
“...applicable to others subjects...”
Other premature shots you mean. I catch on... ha ha ha.
Blood Dancers.
Never let a good double entendre go to waste! ;^)
