So.Carolina Candidate For Gov. Accused Of Being A Whore For No Other Reason Than She Is Kicking Ass

Lots of strands in this web of deceit but I'll do my best to sort it out for everyone with the help of Palmetto State Politics and Redstate.

First the players in this South Carolinian drama:

There is Nikkie Haley who is looking to become the first female Governor of South Carolina. She has most definitely messed up the good ole' boy network going on in that state, which then has us come to the second player. Will Folks. Former speechwriter for Mark Sanford and the man behind this quote:

“The problem is that any time you have a largely uninformed and uneducated electorate, that kind of lowest common denominator mudslinging can be effective.” - Will Folks.

Erick Erickson:

A campaign consultant for one of the campaigns for Governor of South Carolina began approaching groups [in spring 2009] that were viewed as likely to be influenced by Governor Mark Sanford. Why? Because South Carolina politicos knew Rep. Nikki Haley was viewed as Sanford’s choice to replace him.

This campaign consultant began informing groups that a blogger named Will Folks was peddling a story that he had a relationship with Rep. Haley.

Multiple sources in South Carolina confirm that the political consultant in question denied his campaign would be responsible when the story came out, but the consultant was also adamant that if Haley was in the lead before the primary, Folks would drop the story.

So, the story WAS dropped last week but never really got much traction because folks has no evidence. Just his word. Oh, he has phone records showing he called Haley WHILE he was getting paid on Haley's staff to write speeches. Big deal. Put up or shut up right?

Well, now that's where these other players come in.

Rod Shealy - Longtime negative political consultant involved in South Carolina politics. Convicted of violating campaign laws in the past and author of numerous negative attacks against his clients opponents. Said to be the driving force behind Will Folks admitting to the affair with Nikki Haley, reportedly having all the pieces of the puzzle including photo Jake Knotts had a PI take.

Larry Richter - Candidate for Lt Governor and Rod Shealy's boss when it comes to pay. Has paid Shealy over $31,000 in last few months, evidently for just this purpose. Richter hopes that by killing Nikki Haley's chances that her voters stay away from the polls on June 8th which means Richter's opponent Bill Connor will suffer as Haley's supporters are nearly 100% Connor supporters as well. Richter also no stranger to the immoral and unethical as he was forced from his position as a circuit judge amid cocaine issues and a serious affidavit involving Richter betraying clients in the Charleston Catholic Diocese abuse case

I don’t know any of the people involved, but both parties have a mudslinging background. I hope that if Haley is innocent of the charges the people will trust her and support her. Some of these scumbags need to be taken behind a shed and horse-whipped.

This is one of those times when the Republican party could stand up to the scumbags and say that those trying to manipulate election outcomes by scurrilous accusations are not welcome in the party and will be dealt with. But a party with no backbone, one that thinks that whoever we can get elected with an R behind their name, despite their politics is the best way to go forward...what can one expect?

SC politics is certainly a terrible mess. Andre Bauer is obviously a sleazy liar.

I didn’t and really don’t know much about the candidates but from the time this whole thing broke I have had to ask myself what kind of man would come out and announce to the world that he, when single, had an affair with a married woman with children. Whether it was true or not isn’t really any of my business. But I know what I think of such a skunk and he starts out with credibility = zero. Nothing I have seen changes that.

Folks should carry the stench of his actions forevermore. Any candidate who would hire someone like that to even stuff envelopes would have a hard time landing my vote.

That exactly how I see.

Like we say down South about a fella like this?

"He ain't much of a man..."

My son and his family live in SC. They are pretty aloof from politics. I saw them this past weekend and tried to engage them in a conversation about Haley and her opponents. They really didn’t even know about this story. However, they like Haley. They like(ed) Sanford. They pretty much saw this whole election as a tragedy because no matter how it turns out, they will lose a “good guy” from the election because both of these candidates (Haley and her opponent) were both pledged to continue the Sanford reforms. I hope the vote for Haley. I hope they vote.

BTW, my DIL is president of her PTA and obtained and managed a project (when she was PG with her 4th baby) to relandscape the front of the kid’s school. She was about to lose the grant and all the work because the red tape at the school level was not allowing the landscape committee to bring water from the school — many hoops to jump.

So DIL took a co-worker and marched down to the head of public works to get the long-delayed approval and barged into his office without an appointment and asked for this to be done immediately.

He picks up his phone to complain to someone on the other end, “I have these ‘girls’ here in my office...”

My DIL was thoroughly t’eed off. (She was 8 mos pregnant and “techy”.) She got her water. She didn’t lose her grant. Landscaping is in. Now she just has to fight with the school to turn the water on.

She is still mad about it. I’m hoping that this experience will make her sympathetic to Nikki Haley’s plight.

Height of irony.

One politician calling another politician a whore.

LOL

Bauer’s main claim to fame was getting felony-stopped on Assembly Street outside the State Capitol not long after becoming Lieutenant Governor. A Columbia officer pulled him over for doing 65+ in a 35 zone, and as the cop got out of the car, Bauer angrily jumped out of his state car and headed back toward the officer to go “do you know who the hell I am” on him. The cop drew his weapon and put Bauer on the ground.

A few years later Bauer was pulled over for doing 100+ on I-385 in the Upstate. Apparently he tried to use the police radio in his state car to talk his way out of the ticket before he even stopped!

I’ll admit to voting for the guy in the 2002 election because of the (R) beside his name. I didn’t vote in the primary that year and thus have no idea how this idiot ever became the Republican nominee. He’s a zero. He was instrumental in hanging Mark Sanford out to dry during his “hiking trip on the AT.” I totally believe he would be behind this smear on Haley, or at least use it to his fullest possible advantage.

Folks is a slime, but his phone records do corroborate his allegations of an affair. They are not conclusive, but several phone call conversations late at night and sometimes lasting up to three hours would seem to be “intimate” in nature.

…Nikki interjects into Bauer’s self-serving, passive-aggressive no comment on the games played by his staffer by pointing out that said staffer was paid by Bauer. Bauer thinks he’s deflected it by saying that he fired the guy (while trying to insinuate that maybe it was because he didn’t want a dirty adulterer around).

Then Nikki lowers the boom.

“Y’all were fishing the story last night and you didn’t fire him yesterday,” said Haley. “Only when no one would take it seriously because he’s a paid consultant that you decided to fire him today.”

Hmmmm. That's not how it looked in the preview. Do I need a
or
in there after the word "ping"?

I don't know how to do tables. I thought I copied and pasted your text without edit.
