Interesting, I wonder how he did earn his livlihood??? Obviously he was winning large numbers of poker tournaments, or else we’d have heard about it; however, travelling around the world to play in poker tournaments could be excellent cover for other, less legal, activities, plenty of which could provide money.

There was speculation on the O’Reilly Factor tonight about that. Possible drug dealing or some other lucrative criminal activity. I know his family was sorta well off, but I don’t think there was enough to support his jet-set lifestyle.
It has been speculated that perhaps there are other victims besides the two we know about.
Also, he might have been into human trafficking. There was the video of him trying to recruit women. I would not put blackmail past him. Whatever, he seems not to be lacking for money.
I remember Joran van der Sloot. That guy is a such spoiled prick. He is one of the most hated person besides Osama bin Laden, Ward Churchill, and South Hadley 6. They deserve each other.
Hopefully the Chilean or Peruvian police will be able to extract some info from this puke once they get their hands on him.

It's clear that Joran likes to prey on young women who are partying at the end of the school year.
He probably figured that he could pull off another rape/murder without too much trouble.
However, he probably encountered obstacles he did not anticipate and had to decide to either risk dumping the body and getting caught red-handed or to flee.
He chose flight and left the body behind.
I am sure that his intention was to kill her bloodlessly and to safely dispose of the evidence - not to leave a bloody corpse in his room.
Things clearly did not go according to plan.
The wealthy and notorious are generally very good at getting other people to buy them dinner, get them free hotel rooms, lend them expensive cars and pay their airfare.

Saw one item saying he spent time in Tahiland recruiting young girls for prostitution in Europe.
